Our client is a leading property developer specialising in residential projects in Roscommon, Mayo, Sligo and Leitrim.
They are seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join their team, overseeing cost management and procurement activities for our projects in Roscommon, Mayo, Sligo and Leitrim. This role offers a unique opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor who prefers hands-on involvement in construction projects and less paperwork compared to traditional Quantity Surveyor positions.
It is a hybrid role which involves travelling to sites, working from their head office in Co. Roscommon and presents an opportunity to work from home 1 to 2 days a week.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Management:
Manage project budgets and ensure cost control throughout all phases of the project lifecycle.
Conduct regular cost assessments and analysis to identify potential cost-saving opportunities.
Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to establish accurate cost estimates and forecasts.
Procurement:
Coordinate procurement activities including tendering, negotiation, and contract administration.
Evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals to ensure competitiveness and adherence to project requirements.
Maintain relationships with key suppliers and subcontractors to facilitate efficient procurement processes.
Value Engineering:
Work closely with the design and construction teams to identify value engineering opportunities without compromising quality or functionality.
Conduct cost-benefit analysis for proposed design changes and alternative materials/methods.
Risk Management:
Identify and assess project risks related to cost, schedule, and quality.
Develop risk mitigation strategies in collaboration with the project team.
Project Reporting:
Prepare regular project cost reports and forecasts for internal and external stakeholders.
Communicate effectively with project managers and senior management regarding cost status, trends, and potential impacts.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in quantity surveying within the construction industry.
Ideally, the person for this position will have previous experience working on residential projects, but this is not essential.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Full driving license.
Salary:
The salary offered will depend on experience but our client is willing to pay a salary from €65,000 to €95,000 plus vehicle.
