The Team Leader will be responsible for CER1 and CER2 and be accountable for all aspects of the team’s performance. They will report to the Group Production Lead. The Production Team Leader must have experience in manufacturing to understand the day-to-day work practices of the area under supervision.
Job Responsibilities:
To provide effective leadership of Line Support Technicians, Material Handlers, and Versatile Operators in the manufacture and assembly of Medical Devices in GMI.
1. Has a deep understanding of production workflows, equipment, and machinery to ensure smooth operations.
2. Ability to troubleshoot production issues and make quick, effective decisions to maintain production efficiency.
3. To schedule work for individual workstations and processes in line with the GMI manufacturing schedule.
4. To provide effective supervision of people, which includes headcount planning; recruitment and selection; training and development; timekeeping and attendance; resolution of issues, and timely completion of annual performance appraisals.
5. Ability to inspire, motivate, and manage a team of workers, ensuring high morale and productivity.
6. Knowledge of quality assurance standards and processes to ensure products meet required specifications.
7. Efficiently organizing production schedules, meeting deadlines, and ensuring smooth production flow.
8. To monitor and maintain production KPI's showing actual line performance against standard for workstation throughput; yield and schedule adherence.
9. To account for variances through accurate reporting of downtime and defect analysis.
10. Knowledge of lean principles, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies to optimize processes.
11. Ability to analyze production data and metrics to drive improvements in efficiency, cost, and quality.
12. A commercial and non-commercial standpoint (new process transfers; process development/validations).
13. To monitor and coordinate training and development to have in place a competent and versatile workforce.
14. Being open to new techniques, technologies, and processes to keep the production environment modern and efficient.
15. To drive continuous improvement projects which will have a positive impact (cost reduction) on GMI operations.
16. To take a proactive role in the implementation of Lean manufacturing systems and the application of Six Sigma problem-solving methodology.
17. Ensures compliance with all company H & S policies and is responsible for all H & S issues on the shift.
18. Managing inventory levels efficiently, ensuring raw materials and components are available when needed, without overstocking.
19. To maintain compliance with GMI Environment, Health & Safety management system.
20. Administration duties which include updating metrics, Time and Attendance system, and Holiday planning.
21. Working well with other departments such as logistics, maintenance, and quality assurance to ensure the production process runs smoothly.
Job Requirements:
1. 3-4 years’ experience in a supervisory capacity in a manufacturing environment.
2. A third-level qualification in a related field is advantageous.
3. Excellent Planning and Organizational Skills.
4. Proven ability to lead and motivate individuals and multiple teams.
5. Understanding of budgeting, cost savings, and the impact of downtime.
6. Understanding of Inventory Management.
7. Ability to mediate conflicts and manage interpersonal issues within the team.
8. Metrics and Continuous improvement experience.
9. Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization, with excellent interpersonal skills.
10. Well organized with the ability to multitask is essential.
11. A full understanding of GDP, GMP, and compliance requirements within manufacturing for the medical industry.
12. The successful candidate will have a positive, can-do attitude, with a proven track record in team leadership.
