About the Role An Post are continuing to invest in its capabilities to leverage business value from its significant data assets as part of our overall business strategy.
This key leadership role reporting to the Chief Digital and Technology Officer will be responsible for the development and implementation of the An Post enterprise data strategy, engaging with key stakeholders to ensure the strategy has strong commercial and customer focus, including areas such as data architecture, solutions roadmap, governance and management.
Through strong collaboration across the business, you will drive data as a strategic asset to inform decision making ultimately enabling our business to deliver tangible business value outcomes including revenue generation, cost reduction and process transformation.
In this role you will ensure central enablement and oversight of business led data related activities to drive innovation, continuous improvement and efficiency gains.
The Head of Data and Analytics (D&A) will also be responsible developing a data management framework to ensure operational success across the business.
You will be responsible for leading and further developing our existing centralised team of D&A engineers and data analytics/science professionals tasked with supporting existing solutions, delivery of new business solutions, analytics and data modelling expertise.
Responsibilities The principal responsibilities associated with this role include, but are not limited to the following: Build relationships to understand data challenges and opportunities from each business function, integrating findings into the development and continuous improvement of the enterprise information management strategy.
Work with stakeholders to develop the An Post data strategy and vision utilising data as a key business asset, with a strong focus on enabling the business to define their data objectives, access and use of their data Lead our centralised D&A technology teams embedding best practices to deliver effective solutions development, maintenance and analytics expert services in data modelling and data science techniques.
Develop and execute a prioritised programme of D&A related initiatives to deliver optimal business value to An Post.
Work with our Enterprise Architecture function to identify our future requirements for D&A technology and establish a future proofed roadmap.
Drive data related innovation, tooling, AI and analytical support across the organisation, and in particular with the business intelligence analyst community.
Ensure governance and compliance with regulations, standards and codes of good practice relating to data.
Understand the implications of regulatory and compliance changes related to data.
Develop organisational policies, standards, and guidelines for data management, aligned with ethical principles, risk & control environment.
As a member of the IT/Digital Management team provide leadership and contribute to the implementation of strategic, organisational and operational goals and objectives; while contributing positively to a culture that enables people to do their best work in an enjoyable working environment and deliver results.

Qualifications You will have 10+ years in a senior leadership role leading data programme in multiple stakeholder environments, with responsibility for developing and embedding a data strategy.
At minimum you will hold a degree level qualification in data/data science or other related discipline.
Experience of working with agile / lean methodologies is desirable.
A strong technical knowledge base (particularly in data warehousing, visualisation, data science & AI) is necessary to enable the provision of leadership to cross functional teams and enterprise-wide data programmes.
Ideally this will include knowledge of D&A technologies such as Oracle and Microsoft toolsets.
You have strong commercial and vendor management skills with detailed knowledge of the marketplace for D&A related technologies and global trends Experience of integrating complex processes and information strategies including the design of strategic metrics/analytics that add value to business decision making and delivery of organisation strategy is essential.
Proven data literacy with a comprehensive understanding of data sources and constructs, analytical methods and techniques.
You have proven experience defining, driving and embedding data strategy, including technology planning and execution, policy development and maintenance.
Strong change management knowledge with a deep understanding of the impacts from a people, process and technology perspective is critical.
You have an exceptional ability to work across business functions at a senior level to influence and effect change in order to achieve common goals, including building strong relationships and managing stakeholder expectations.
You are experienced and passionate about building high performing teams, identifying critical roles and developing talent.
