Job Summary:
The Director of Digital Infrastructure is a visionary leader responsible for architecting, optimising, and securing our digital infrastructure. This role ensures automation, scalability, and operational excellence to support a high-performance, resilient, and cost-efficient technology ecosystem.
The ideal candidate is a transformational leader with deep expertise in cloud and hybrid infrastructures, automation, DevOps methodologies, and next-generation networking. They will oversee infrastructure operations, drive strategic initiatives, and ensure business continuity while leading a high-performing team
Key Responsibilities:
Infrastructure Strategy & Automation:
* Develop and execute a comprehensive digital infrastructure strategy aligned with business goals. Drive automation-first initiatives, implementing Infrastructure as Code, Configuration Management, and self-healing systems to enhance operational efficiency. Spearhead cloud and on-premises infrastructure modernisation, ensuring seamless integration, scalability, and resilience.
Operational Excellence & Performance Optimization:
* Ensure the reliability, availability, and security of infrastructure across on premise data centers and cloud platforms (primarily AWS & Azure)
* Implement observability and monitoring solutions that will proactively manage performance and detect anomalies. Optimize infrastructure costs by leveraging FinOps best practices and rightsizing cloud resources.
Security, Compliance, & Risk Management:
* Establish and enforce best-in-class security, compliance, and governance frameworks (ISO 27001, SOC 2, NIST, GDPR, etc.) Lead the implementation of Zero Trust architectures and automated security enforcement. Define and implement robust Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity strategies to minimize downtime.
Team Leadership & Cross-functional Collaboration:
* Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing infrastructure and cybersecurity team.
* Foster a DevSecOps culture by collaborating with engineering, security, and product teams. Act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership, influencing technology investment decisions.
Technology Evaluation & Innovation:
* Partner with vendors and industry experts to bring cutting-edge innovations into the infrastructure platform and architecture. Champion a continuous improvement mindset, leveraging agile methodologies to drive efficiencies.
Hybrid & On-Premise Infrastructure Management:
* Manage and modernise AWS RDS and on-premise Oracle databases to improve performance, security, and scalability. Oversee VMware ESXi clusters, ensuring high availability, redundancy, and optimisation for business-critical applications.
* Develop a roadmap to transition legacy infrastructure to modern, cloud-friendly architectures such as Containers, while maintaining high customer satisfaction.
* Implement best practices for database administration, virtualization, and infrastructure automation to reduce manual overhead and improve service reliability.
Key Qualifications & Skills:
* Proven Leadership Experience: 10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
* Deep Cloud & Automation Expertise: Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, and/or GCP, including automation tools like Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
* Networking & Security: Strong understanding of MPLS, SD-WAN, SASE, network automation, and cybersecurity frameworks.
* DevOps & SRE Knowledge: Experience driving Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), and observability practices.
* Hybrid Infrastructure & Database Management: Expertise in managing hybrid cloud environments, on-premises Oracle databases, and VMware ESXi clusters.
* Strategic Thinker: Ability to translate business objectives into robust, scalable, and secure digital infrastructure solutions.
* Collaboration & Communication: Strong stakeholder management, influencing skills, and ability to drive cross-functional initiatives.
* Certifications Preferred: AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Google Professional Cloud Architect, CISSP, ITIL.
