We are the leading professional body for Accounting Technicians and Accounting Technologists, with more than 10,000 members and students on the island of Ireland. ATI is a registered charity in Ireland (CHY6846).
Founded in 1983, we provide nationally and internationally recognised accounting qualifications which open the door to a rewarding career as an Accounting Technician and Accounting Technologist.
Our members are employed in industry, practice, and the public sector, at all levels of finance, where they proudly carry the respected professional designation of MIATI & CIATI. We educate, train, and represent our members throughout their professional lives.

Director of Education
The overall objective of the role of the Director of Education is to lead and deliver the strategic development of ATI’s Education function with a view to developing and enhancing qualifications in an all-island and international setting as well as planning, developing and implementing commercial strategies to support business development and new products and services.
The role reports directly to the Chief Operations Officer, working closely with the Associate Director of Education, the Leadership team, and the Chairs of Education & Assessment to support ATI’s strategy.
Responsibilities
The Director of Education has overall responsibility for leading the following areas:
1. Curriculum: the provision of effective curricula which provide the wider ATI educators, students and member community with a measurable plan and structure for delivering quality ATI further and higher education & lifelong learning.
2. Apprenticeship: the provision of further and higher education technician and technologist apprenticeships.
3. Programme Management: the management of ATI’s programmes, student supports and services on an all-island basis and the provision of excellent educator advice & in-service training.
4. Quality: the assurance of ATI’s Awarding Organisation’s (AO) compliance with CCEA conditions for recognition; the assurance of ATI’s QQI, SOLAS & HEA regulatory compliance and the management and continuous improvement of ATI’s Quality Assurance Systems (QAS), policies, processes, and procedures.
5. Assessment: the implementation of ATI’s annual Assessment strategy, the operational management of its online assessment delivery and continuous improvements.
Additional Responsibilities
* Leading and managing the Education team, ensuring a supportive and inclusive working environment, high performance, prioritisation and sequencing of workloads, and a culture of continuous improvement.
* Leading the design and implementation of excellent ATI-wide professional development programming aligned to ATI’s current strategic priorities.
* Leading the design and implementation of effective methods and processes for monitoring and evaluating education performance and mitigating educational risks.
* Guiding analysis and evaluation of strategic opportunities and options and supporting strategic decision-making with good evidence and expert advice.
* Overseeing effective support for a wider range of external relationships with government, agencies, and business organisations, ensuring a strong influence on decisions likely to have effects on ATI, mitigating risks and optimising opportunities.
* Tracking external FE & HE education policy and market developments, applying insights gained to advising on strategic decision-making.
* Ensuring excellent and productive relationships with current and future academic partnerships.
* Leading on special projects as requested by the Chief Operations Officer.
* Producing reports and briefings as requested by the Chief Operations Officer and Education Board.
* This is not an exhaustive list of responsibilities and other duties will be required from time to time, compatible with the nature of the role.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria:
* Extensive experience in Higher Education.
* Excellent understanding of the Higher education environment in Ireland and current issues as they impinge on the mission and nature of Accounting Technicians Ireland.
* Strong commercial acumen.
* Analytical skills, able to evaluate and apply evidence to solving complex issues at operational and strategic levels.
* Proven ability leading, managing, and developing teams.
* Outstanding strategic thinker, able to scope and evaluate options and find solutions, adeptly juggling across multiple projects.
* Able to handle high-level, sensitive, and confidential matters and information appropriately.
* A personal alignment to the values of Accounting Technicians Ireland and to equality, inclusion, and diversity.
* Postgraduate qualified or equivalent professional qualification.
