Main Purpose of Job:
To effectively manage, develop, motivate and lead Store Managers and their team of employees.
Relationships:
Responsible to: Senior Executive Manager & C.E.O of JB Business.
Responsible for: Store Managers, store employees.
Liaison with: HR Manager, Finance Manager, Office employees.
Main tasks of job:
1. Provide overall leadership and supervision to the entire team of 5 Spar stores.
2. Travel to each store regularly throughout the week, with consistent, scored visit audits.
3. Supervise and investigate the quality and standards of cleaning services.
4. Supervise employees, including the allocation of workloads, monitoring progress and performance, determining work priorities, with attention to productivity and quality control through regular site visits.
5. Ensure health and safety standards are maintained on store sites.
6. Control and monitor the correct use of appropriate technology, machinery and cleaning materials in stores/on site.
7. Carry out stock checks on produce, equipment and materials as required.
8. Arrange/carry out the induction and ‘on the job’ training with Managers, Supervisors and ensure that all employees are trained to required standards.
9. Liaise with Human Resources promptly, with open communication and integrity.
10. Abide by HACCP principles, procedures and guidelines to ensure food produce is safe.
11. Promote awareness of all company Policies and Procedures and Health and Safety Practices, ensuring all employees have appropriate training and understanding to secure compliance.
12. Implement and follow up on CAPA plans in relation to any audit non-conformances outlined by you or other departments.
13. Develop the business, assisting the Store Manager/Franchisee build relationships in local communities, and assist in the development of an LSM plan with the Manager/Franchisee for each store to generate business and goodwill in each community.
14. Take the lead role in planning for people development, recruitment, selection, training, and succession planning for future expansion.
15. Oversee employee relations and customer complaints having the potential for significant impact on the business and take necessary action and advice to minimize effect.
16. Liaise with all head office departments as necessary.
17. Ensure all CAPA plans are completed on time.
18. Prepare weekly KPI reports, relative to sales, productivity, man hours budgets, stock, margins, wastage.
19. Manage time effectively to ensure maximum use of resources.
20. Continuously review work methods and procedures to maximize efficiencies.
21. Attend weekly management meetings at Head Office, prepared and open to new challenges with a proactive mindset.
22. Ensure that all services are charged for correctly by communicating with Finance Department.
23. Daily use of Station Master and MyStaff sites.
24. Develop a suitably trained and responsible team.
25. Develop a productive workforce that is customer-focused.
26. Maximize Health & Safety in all aspects of the work environment to reduce/eliminate accidents.
27. Action any issues that arise on a day-to-day basis.
28. Report any issues to the Senior Management as necessary.
29. Ensure accident/incident investigations and report forms are completed as per policy.
30. Ensure compliance with all legislation i.e. working time act – rest periods, max working hours etc., equality legislation, grievance and disciplinary procedure.
31. Ensure accurate records are maintained including time and attendance, time sheets, site minutes etc.
32. Handle all staff disciplinary and grievances at a local level in accordance with company policy and communicate regularly with the Head Office HR Department.
Your Profile:
1. An Area manager with proven progressive Management experience along with some multi-site experience within the Retail Industry - A minimum of 2 years’ experience is required.
2. Financial acumen is a particular requirement of this position.
3. Ability to think strategically as well as operationally.
4. The ability to lead, manage and develop others into a state of self-sufficiency.
5. Excellent organisational and communication skills.
6. Business acumen gained through work experience and/or a business degree.
7. Strong, demonstrable record of achievement working in a customer-focused, standards-driven organisation.
8. Ambitious, with demonstrable career progression to date.
9. Communicates store goals and a motivating vision; links individual Store Management performance to achieving store goals.
10. Provides clear direction and authority, and is assertive when required.
11. Regularly coaches Management to drive for results, is a role model in professionalism.
12. Full Driving Licence is essential.
