YOUR NEXT STEP TOWARDS MANAGEMENT
Summit Leadership Program:
At Ballyhass Adventure Group, we believe in developing leaders from within. Our Summit leadership program is tailored for experienced instructors ready to step into management. This structured, multi-season opportunity combines hands-on activity delivery with leadership training, mentorship, and real-world management experience, preparing you to take the next big step in your outdoor career.
This program is ideal for instructors looking to develop the skills, confidence, and experience needed to transition into management roles within the adventure industry.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
As part of this structured pathway, your role will adapt to the seasonal demands of our operations while offering targeted opportunities to build your leadership and management skills.
Summer: Lead by Doing
1. Activity Delivery Leadership: Take on the role of a lead instructor, overseeing activities while supporting your team to deliver exceptional guest experiences.
2. Team Mentorship: Begin your leadership journey by guiding less experienced instructors, sharing your knowledge, and fostering a positive, team-oriented environment.
3. Operational Insights: Work closely with managers to understand daily operations, from rostering and logistics to safety protocols and customer engagement.
4. Building Responsibility: Step into mid-level leadership roles such as Duty Manager or Coordinator to gain real-world experience in decision-making and team management.
Winter: Learn, Reflect, and Grow
1. Management Training: Participate in tailored leadership development programs focusing on skills such as conflict resolution, communication, and operational planning.
2. Projects and Innovation: Lead small-scale projects that contribute to the success of Ballyhass, such as sustainability initiatives or team development programs.
3. Cross-Departmental Exposure: Gain experience in different operational areas, including administration, guest services, and facilities management, to build a well-rounded perspective.
4. Banked Hours Flexibility: Enjoy a lighter workload in winter thanks to the hours banked during the busy summer season, giving you time to focus on personal growth and recovery.
This seasonal balance allows you to experience the responsibilities of management during peak times while dedicating quieter periods to skill-building and development.
THE GOALS OF THIS ROLE
1. Gain Hands-On Leadership Experience: Transition from leading small teams to managing operations during peak times.
2. Develop Essential Management Skills: Build a foundation in key areas such as team coordination, communication, decision-making, and customer relations.
3. Prepare for a Managerial Role: Be ready to step confidently into a management position, armed with the experience and training to succeed.
4. Achieve Industry Recognition: Earn relevant qualifications to strengthen your credentials as an outdoor professional.
THE PERKS
1. Leadership Coaching: Receive one-on-one mentorship from experienced managers who are invested in your success.
2. Structured Career Path: A clear roadmap for transitioning from instructor to manager, with milestones to mark your progress.
3. Professional Development: Access training programs and certifications, fully funded by Ballyhass, including leadership and trainer qualifications.
4. Seasonal Flexibility: Work intensively during summer, with a lighter workload and more personal time in winter.
5. On-Site Accommodation: Subsidised housing to immerse yourself in the Ballyhass community.
6. Employee Benefits: Weekly team activities, discounts on outdoor gear, and wellness initiatives to support your physical and mental health.
REQUIREMENTS
