The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is seeking a Scientific Officer/Inspector I (Level 3) General to lead a team in implementing the agency's statutory functions.
This challenging role requires strong leadership and technical expertise, with a focus on managing people and projects, enforcing licence conditions, and collaborating with other regulators and stakeholders.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of leading complex projects and developing practical approaches to address environmental regulatory issues.
Key responsibilities include:
* Leading a team to implement EPA's statutory functions, including licensing, enforcement, scientific evaluation, and circular economy initiatives.
* Managing staff and fostering EPA values, developing and delivering annual work programmes, and preparing and presenting updates and recommendations to the Board.
* Collaborating with other regulators, non-government organisations, advocacy groups, and the public at national and European levels.
* Developing and maintaining a clear understanding of relevant law and environmental case law (national and international).
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years' relevant work experience in two or more areas, including environmental regulation, policy, and technical expertise. Essential qualifications include an appropriate qualification in Science, Engineering, or another relevant discipline.
A full valid Irish/EU driving license is also required. The EPA will convene an expert board to carry out the competitive stages of the selection process to the highest standard of best practice.
The salary for this position is €66,131 - €99,086 per annum.
