As Commercial Associate in this lean private equity styled energy company, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Commercial and Trading Officer (CTO) and their Finance Team in running the gas marketing and hedging function of the business along with assessing energy asset investment opportunities as they arise.
The role will require a dynamic, self-starter with experience in financial modelling and presentation skills with a good eye for detail.
Responsibilities
1. Gas sales agreements and hedging strategies to evaluating strategic investment decisions.
2. Responsibilities will also include investment modelling and assessing business development
3. The individual will need to have initiative, be comfortable working in a "start-up" small team type organisation who is happy working across the breadth of operations within this fastgrowing business
4. Report to the CTO with a dotted line to the Managing Director (MD)
5. Providing support for a wide variety of functions from gas marketing, commodity hedging and contract negotiation, to evaluating strategic investment decisions
6. Take an active role in day-to-day commercial activities, participate in daily full team meetings with the MD and other senior management
7. Support and co-ordinate with other key stakeholders and service providers such as legal advisors, lenders and investment banks
8. Maintaining day-to-day oversight and relationships with commercial third parties and specialist service providers (i.e. gas buyers, regulators, hedging banks, etc.)
9. Supporting the CTO in developing marketing and hedging strategies
10. Supporting the CTO in supervising gas production levels as they relate to our gas sales and hedging commitments.
11. Support CTO in analysing commercial, investment and budgetary decisions
12. Assist, where necessary, with any business development in relation to asset due diligence, adviser team management and financial modelling
13. Initial review and analysis of operational reports focussing on commercial aspects
14. Assist the CTO and Managing Director in the preparation of management and board
reports
Requirements
15. 3-4 years' consulting, finance, or investments experience
16. Preferred fields of study: Finance or Economics
17. Excellent proficiency in Excel
18. Excellent proficiency in PowerPoint
19. Ability to conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses of complex data
20. Strong written and oral communication skills
21. Strong attention to detail
