The Senior Occupational Therapist will carry out and deliver assessment, intervention, programme planning and implementation, discharge and onward referrals. The roll of the Senior Occupational Therapist will include directive, monitoring and consultative approaches and the support of other team members/students as required. The Senior Occupational Therapist role will liaise with, establish and maintain effective working relationships with parents/carers/teachers, other relevant agencies and services.Main Responsibilities• To commit to and deliver a quality occupational therapy service• To provide an occupational therapy service that respects and meets the individual needs of each person.• Commitment to liaising with other disciplines and fostering good working relationships and practices as part of the team, liaising with other disciplines• Provide therapeutic input and intervention for children and young people who are enrolled in the service & to monitor, plan, deliver and review service provision for young people on your caseload• To be informed and up to date with developments in the assessment and interventions for children and young people with complex needs e.g. ASD, DCD, CP, Intellectual disabilities etc.• To work as part of the multidisciplinary team and to be involved in initial team assessments, team reviews and team interventions• Assist in the delivery of varied interventions with colleagues and to assist int he set up, organisation of Occupational therapy clinics with others.• Attendance and active participation in relevant clinical/MDT meetings including IFSP and case conference meetings and chairing of these as/if required.• To liaise with children/young people and their families as appropriate with regard to assessments, IFSP outcomes, interventions and reviews• Where relevant to advise/education young people/children, parents, teachers and staff in appropriate use of adaptative aids/appliances/ seating for posture/function/mobility as per OT prescription.• To facilitate fieldwork education/practice placement of Occupational Therapy Students• To be an active participant in service development initiatives/systems and to ensure positive representation of the OT service at all times• Ensure documentation is recorded routinely, appropriately, accurately and timely• Participate in audits as required• Demonstrate commitment to continuous professional development and contribute to staff/team training/ in services, skills sharing, presentations etc.• To attend, on occasion, meetings outside working hours.Management Self & Others• Participation in planning groups and committees related to the ongoing development of the service.• Active involvement in the compilation, delivery and evaluation of training with the organisation.• Management of resources, currently available and application for resources where there is a need.• To manage the development of the role of the Occupational Therapist working with children and young people with complex needs.• Be responsible for personal time management and management of caseload.• Department responsibilities or administration duties as required.• Attend and participate in in-service programmes.• Actively engage in professional and personal development initiatives.• To enhance the OT service within the organisation.• Participate effectively in the performance management system that operates within the organisation.• Adhere to local and national policy and Health and Safety regulations at all times.• Maintain the highest level of client confidentiality at all times.• Contribute in a positive and energetic manner to the overall development of WCCDNT and the services it provides.• Display active interest in research development.Clinical Supervision: Clinical supervision will be provided by the Occupational Therapy Manager.Qualifications RequiredDegree in Occupational Therapy from a 3rd level institution offering a programme of study that is accredited by the World Federation of Occupational Therapists.Candidates must haveEligibility/a permit to reside and work in ROICORU RegistrationFull clean driving licence.Experience RequiredMinimum 3 years post graduate experienceCoAction undertakes to provideQuality guidance and supervision in the implementation of your role.Commitment to supporting CPDPerson Specification : Senior Occupational Therapist 28 hours per weekEssential QualificationsEach candidate must, at the latest date for receipt of completed application form for the post: · B.Sc. degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent · Be registered/be eligible for registration with CORU · Be a member of, or be eligible for membership of, the Association of Occupational Therapy Ireland. · Have a full clean drivers licence and access to your own carEssential SkillsAbility to practice in a family centred manner and demonstrate commitment to a collaborative approach to work in partnership with families · Ability to assess the occupational performance needs of children and young people with complex disabilities. ·Ability to plan and adjust intervention plans to meet the needs of children with physical, intellectual and/or sensory disabilities. ·Ability to take responsibility for planning and managing an independent workload with competing demands.
