Role Overview:
You will work across various areas within the nursing home, including laundry, catering, and cleaning. Your role will involve ensuring the highest standards are maintained in each assigned area, with all activities documented according to company policies and procedures. Building respectful, equal relationships with residents is key.
Kitchen Assistant Responsibilities:
1. Adhere to health, safety, fire, food handling, HACCP, and infection control standards in the kitchen.
2. Assist the Catering Supervisor/Cook with food ordering, receiving, and maintaining safe practices.
3. Support in preparing high-quality meals and home-baked goods.
4. Help ensure all daily menus are balanced and meet individual resident dietary requirements.
5. Learn about nutrition and diet standards for older adults, including the Malnutrition Universal Screening Tool (MUST).
6. Safely store food in compliance with legal standards.
Housekeeping Assistant Responsibilities:
1. Maintain high standards of cleanliness, tidiness, and hygiene throughout the nursing home.
2. Perform various housekeeping tasks such as dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and cleaning equipment, furniture, crockery, and more.
3. Manage domestic and hazardous waste disposal while maintaining cleanliness.
4. Respond to spills promptly and use safety signs as required.
5. Follow infection control policies and stay updated on best practices.
6. Report and document any defects or issues within the premises.
Laundry Assistant Responsibilities:
1. Sort, prepare, and wash residents' clothing and linen, ensuring quality stain removal and cleanliness.
2. Work with external laundry personnel for items laundered off-site.
3. Fold and store clothing and linen appropriately.
4. Ensure adherence to Health, Safety & Fire, and Infection Control standards within the laundry area.
Education & Qualifications:
1. Current certificates in Infection Control, Chemical Awareness, Food Handling, HACCP, Manual Handling, Resident Moving & Handling, and Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults (training provided if necessary).
Skills & Experience:
1. Experience in caring for older adults in a residential setting is preferred.
2. Strong commitment to health and safety standards.
3. Passionate about providing excellent care to older individuals with a positive, patient, and caring attitude.
