Postdoctoral Researcher - Transition Metal Dichalcogenide (TMD) Electronic Devices
This role is for a Postdoctoral Researcher to assist in the design and implementation of a specific research programme associated with the Principal Investigator to support the development of Tyndall's TMD activity in the NanoIC Pilot Line.
About Tyndall National Institute
Tyndall National Institute is Ireland's largest Research and Technology Organisation (RTO) and a flagship Institute of University College Cork. Specialising in both electronics and photonics, Tyndall works with global industry and academia to transform research into products in its core market areas of electronics, communications, energy, health, agri-tech and the environment.
The Role
* Assist in the design and implementation of a specific research programme in association with the Principal Investigator to support the development of Tyndall's TMD activity in the NanoIC Pilot Line.
* Work with the supervisor and other team members to deliver the outputs of the project.
* C Coordinate and execute the implementation of experimental work such as semiconductor processing, device and material metrology, presentation and interpretation of data.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct literature review on TMD materials and field-effect transistor (FET) devices to benchmark new data against existing knowledge.
* Fabricate thin-film TMD electronic devices, and extract field-effect transistor (FET) and Dynamic Random Access Memory (DRAM) figures of merit.
* Draw conclusions on device figures of merit extracted, based on semiconductor device physics.
* Explore to what extent integration and fabrication affect the electrical behaviour in TMD-based devices, and correlate with material properties through hybrid metrology.
Requirements
* PhD in materials sciences, engineering, chemistry, physics or related discipline.
* Typically 4 years of hands-on experience working on Transition Metal Dichalcogenides (TMDs), and electron devices.
* Demonstrated knowledge of material science and device characterisation and experience in building process fabrication flows from concept stage.
* A strong publication record in the field of TMD materials and devices.
