About the Land Development Agency
The Land Development Agency is a key Government Commercial Semi-State Body that delivers social and affordable housing on State and other lands. It is overseen by an independent board of directors and has committed to providing the LDA with €1.25 billion of equity which is drawn as required.
The LDA has commenced construction on various state sourced lands and is currently working on direct delivery projects that can deliver over 5,000 homes. Additionally, it is delivering affordable housing by working with the private sector on an initiative called Project Tosaigh, which will yield a further 5,000 homes.
Job Summary
This role offers a fantastic opportunity for a Site Engineer to play a key role in transformative residential and regeneration projects across the country through the development life cycle.
The ideal candidate will have all necessary technical and commercial acumen required in delivering landmark projects, but importantly will need to be a team player with the drive, work ethic and adaptability to respond to the exciting challenges of the LDA mandate.
Principal Accountabilities
The Resident Engineer will be responsible for the day-to-day management of matters pertaining to the construction, technical and operational stages of a Project.
Duties and Responsibilities
* On-site supervision of the construction stage and ensuring contractors carry out works in accordance with design.
* Organizing adequate supervision of construction works on-site and reporting to the Employer's Representative.
* Coordinating Contract interfaces with respect to the works and assessing Contractor claims.
* Assessment of Contractor payment applications against work completed and submissions including method statements.
* Supervision of the works, keeping records, measuring, managing correspondence, and contractual documentation.
* Record detailed reports of all works and any significant happenings on-site, including photographic records where necessary.
* Ensuring all work recorded is approved prior to execution and document any mishaps such as delays, industrial disputes etc.
* Attending regular site meetings and ensuring other site supervisory staff are alerted to any matter which may affect their work.
* Assisting with the administration of the contract in accordance with the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work legislation.
Essential Requirements
* Holding a degree in Engineering or an equivalent professional qualification in Engineering.
* Satisfactory knowledge of civil engineering works, building construction, and project management.
* At least 4 years experience working as a Resident Engineer.
* Strong ability in delivering results and performance management.
* Detailed experience in the delivery of residential projects.
* Direct experience in project management and good knowledge of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Regulations.
* Excellent Communication skills and high attention to detail.
* Highly motivated and self-driven.
Experience
* Preferably 4 years PQE in a relevant area.
* Demonstrable willingness to take on new responsibilities and the ability to work unsupervised or as part of a team within a well-defined project organisation structure.
* Be a driven proactive solutions & results focused team player, with the ability to adapt to new challenges.
* A keen interest in the development process and developing skillsets like project and development management, contractual, commercial and financial aspects of development projects, building & managing stakeholder relationships, and Technical knowledge – an understanding of technical principles, construction buildability, technical solutions value engineering would be an advantage.
* Full clean driving license as some site travel will be required.
