LearnUpon is looking for a VP, Engineering to join our Leadership team in Dublin.

The successful candidate will lead our experienced international engineering teams based in Ireland and Serbia. As a key member of our Executive Team, the VP of Engineering reports into our co-founder and CTO. The VP of Engineering leads and is responsible for end-to-end engineering delivery, while also empowering and supporting our engineering teams to continuously improve in function and form.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading and growing engineering teams in a high paced scale up environment, with a focus on delivering quality solutions that meet and exceed customers’ expectations, while also mentoring and developing engineering teams in a supportive and collaborative team environment.
What will I be doing?
Strategic and tactical leadership and responsibility for the delivery of the LearnUpon product and related technologies
Collaborate with Product teams to ensure that Engineering requirements are aligned with product roadmaps that scale revenue market opportunities
Lead distributed cross-functional teams including Product Engineering & Engineering Ops (incl. SRE/Devops)
Work closely with Product, Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success teams to ensure alignment and execution on company-wide initiatives
Recruit great engineers and managers in collaboration with LearnUpon’s talent teams and support their continued growth and development
Build and lead a world class Engineering team that delivers great products while having fun working together
What skills do I need?
Proven experience in leading engineering teams through significant growth phases, while continuing to deliver high-quality products built for scale and flexibility
Excellent communication skills and a team player with an acute ability to inspire and lead by embracing a supportive leadership approach
Proven experience in serving and maintaining large-scale web application solutions
Comfortable researching technologies and having both architectural discussions with engineers and product strategy discussions with our Product team
Identifying bottlenecks in the SDLC and fine tuning delivery processes is second nature to you
Acute skill to digest and discuss issues/solutions with team members that may not be familiar with such terminology/technologies
Strong ability to hire, develop, retain and engage top engineering talent
Experience managing engineering budgets, resource allocation, and vendor relationships to maximize efficiency - with a track record of making build vs. buy decisions strategically to balance costs and innovation
Not required but considered a big plus
Experience managing teams developing apps with Ruby/Rails/GoLang in an AWS environment
LMS Engineering Experience and / or exposure to the LMS market
