Overview of role: Gaeltec Utilities are seeking an Engineer Officer (OHL Designer) to work with our Overhead Lines team.
As an Engineer Officer (OHL Designer) you will be a key member of the OHL team responsible for providing safe network designs within your discipline.
Key Responsibilities: Preparation of high quality designs; calculating costs, work authorisations, protection settings, design drawings; measuring design clearances, for 38kV, MV and LV networks.Preparing scopes of work, costing templates and safety documentation.Liaising and negotiating with Local Authorities, landowners and other parties to obtain routes for underground cables and overhead lines in accordance with legislation and relevant policies.Compliance with legislation and relevant policies in relation to obtaining consent from landowners including issuing wayleaves.Arranging cable easements and forestry easements and arranging road opening and closure licences where required.
Applying for and processing Road Opening Licences.Participating in the correlation and scheduling of construction work.Compliance with Health & Safety Legislation and Environmental Legislation.Provide support in the planning and execution of construction and maintenance work programmes as required.To be considered for the Engineer Officer (OHL Designer) role you will ideally have the following: Previous experience in a similar role within an ESB project, specifically overhead lines networks (LV/MV/HV).Ability to translate scope and policy requirements into constructable designs.Ability to implement standards and policies to ensure optimum design.Sound written and verbal communication skills.Excellent time management and planning skills.Proven experience in liaising with operational teams and stakeholders.Good customer service and organisational skills.Ability to work independently and within a team, take direction from supervisor(s), adhere to required work schedules, attention to detail and follow work rules.Minimum 3rd level qualification or equivalent work experience.Competent computer skills which include various operating systems and other company software.Must have an understanding and speak the English language.A current full and valid driving licence.
