Role Overview:
Our client is seeking a dynamic, senior-level public affairs professional to join the team as Managing Director, Public Affairs. This key leadership role is responsible for driving and overseeing the development and execution of public affairs strategies for a wide array of clients. The successful candidate will manage a talented team, shape client communications strategies, build relationships with key stakeholders, and provide strategic counsel to senior clients.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the public affairs division, ensuring high-quality, strategic advice and service delivery to clients across diverse sectors.
* Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive public affairs strategies to achieve client objectives in political, regulatory, and public environments.
* Work closely with senior leadership to drive business development, ensuring the division’s growth and profitability.
* Oversee the management of client relationships, ensuring excellence in service and the development of long-term, trusted partnerships.
* Lead, inspire, and mentor the public affairs team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
* Serve as the key spokesperson for the agency on public affairs-related matters, representing our client at industry events, with stakeholders, and in media.
* Stay ahead of trends in public affairs, policy, and government relations to ensure the agency remains innovative and effective in its approach.
* Work with clients to develop and implement crisis communications plans, media strategies, and public engagement initiatives.
* Monitor political developments and provide clients with timely advice on regulatory and public policy issues.
* Collaborate with internal teams to integrate public affairs strategies into broader communication plans.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Proven experience in public affairs, ideally in an agency or consultancy setting, with a strong track record of leading high-level public affairs campaigns.
* Strong understanding of the political landscape, public policy, and regulatory issues in Ireland.
* A deep network of relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, regulatory bodies, and industry associations.
* Excellent leadership and people management skills, with a proven ability to inspire and develop teams.
* Strong business acumen with experience in managing P&L, driving growth, and developing client strategies.
* Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
* Experience in crisis management and a demonstrated ability to work under pressure.
* A degree in Political Science, Public Relations, Communications, or a related field is preferred.
