This role is a hybrid working opportunity that will be an integral part of our wider Compliance team.About the Role:Reporting directly to the Chief Risk Officer, the successful individual will be responsible to provide compliance oversight, leadership, and advisory support across Irish entities, supporting the business in maintaining compliance with the requirements of industry and government lead regulation, within a framework of business efficiency. Additionally, they will manage the regulatory requirements of the Howden entities in relation to the CBI rules and guidance for life and non-life insurance activities with which firms must comply. The Central Compliance Director will also manage compliance business partners to set up, monitor and maintain adequate and appropriate systems and controls that will ensure that the firm meets its regulatory requirements. Key responsibilities:Prepare an annual Compliance Monitoring Plan, the scope of which shall ensure adequate risk-based assurance of the activities of the firm which shall take account of their respective regulatory risk profiles.Creation of Compliance policies and procedures relevant to the regulatory and legal jurisdictions of each Trading Entity.Liaise regularly with the first line of defence assurance and monitoring functions, to identify opportunities to improve and enhance the quality and efficiency of the Operating Units overall assurance framework.To work with senior operational management to ensure that compliance systems and controls remain appropriateTo ensure that operational management are briefed in good time to ensure compliance with regulatory changeManages assigned projects and contributes to other projects in Ireland and across jurisdictions as requiredProvides relevant management information to the Chief Risk Officer and to the Senior ManagementTo deliver on the Irish compliance planTo ensure that the compliance team makes use of timely and insightful data to inform their understanding of regulatory risks and customer outcomes across the Howden Ireland landscapeDevelop, manage and refine qualitative and quantitative regulatory/compliance reporting, which meets business requirements, promotes risk reduction and supports effective decision-makingMaintaining the errors, complaints and breach reporting processManage the performance of direct reports and any people management issues connected with teams within their area of responsibility;Acts as a role model for positive management and leadership behaviours;Manages the team to ensure they have relevant objectives which align personal goals to the requirements of the business. Positively encourages professional and personal development of all team members to increase their capability and effectiveness;Motivates team to deliver high performance and achieve objectives;Retains and develops key team members, working with senior managers to develop succession plans where this is appropriate;Remains aware of external, industry, legal and regulatory developments etc to ensure practice and outputs are of a sufficiently high standard;Keeps informed of all legal and regulatory developments relevant to the role; andStrictly adheres to the Group Employee Code of ConductAbout You:A minimum of 5 years of previous experience of operating in a similar role at a senior level within a financial services environment.
