Job Title: Home Manager (Residence) - Maynooth, Co. Kildare
The purpose of this role is to oversee the care and day-to-day running of our Nursing Home in the absence of the Home Manager.
Main Responsibilities:
* Maintain a positive and supportive atmosphere for residents and staff, ensuring that all company policies and procedures are adhered to.
* Interact with residents to ensure their health care needs are met and resolve any problems where necessary.
* Liaise with the District Nurse regarding resident's health care needs.
* Report any ill-health amongst residents and make requests for GP/professional visits where necessary.
* Ensure meals are of sufficient quantity and good quality, and that resident's dietary needs are met.
* Undertake general nursing work & personal care as appropriate.
* Administer prescribed medicines and maintain necessary records.
* Support and assist the Home Manager in auditing Care Plan documentation.
* Establish and maintain relationships with residents based on respect and dignity.
* Liaise with Director of Nursing to provide on-call cover for holidays and every alternate weekend.
Communication:
* Maintain effective communications with the Home Manager.
* Communicate with residents, relatives, staff members, managing director, divisional office, and other concerned bodies.
* Obtain reports from the person in charge and advise the Home Manager regarding incidents/accidents.
* Supervise visits and liaise with GPs to establish a good relationship between GPs/healthcare professionals and the Nursing Home.
* Provide clear and concise handover reports to staff members.
* Arrange/participate in staff and client meetings as required.
Budgetary/Fiscal Control:
* Manage, monitor, and maintain budgets agreed by the Home Manager and Divisional Office.
* Take corrective action in conjunction with Divisional Management where necessary.
* Ensure commodities used in and around the Nursing Home are sensibly conserved by all staff members.
Human Resources (HR):
* Adhere to and implement all HR policies and procedures.
* Fulfill staff vacancies by advertising with FAS or contacting the Director of HR.
* Maintain correct records of working hours of all staff members.
* Monitor and control sickness absence in line with Company policy.
* Implement and manage the Company's discipline policies and procedures.
* Assist the Home Manager with formal supervision/appraisal of staff members.
* Implement and initiate training for all staff members on the Company's Equal Opportunities policy.
Marketing:
* Actively market the Nursing Home and promote a positive personal/professional profile within the local community.
* Fill client vacancies by liaising with HSE and assessing/selecting suitable residents.
* Presentation of the Nursing Home must be attractive and odour-free at all times.
* A viewing room must be suitably presented and available at all times.
Training and Development:
* Supervise and instruct junior and new staff members in all aspects of their work.
* Maintain and continuously improve professional knowledge and competence.
* Attend mandatory training days/courses as required.
Health and Safety:
* Report immediately to the Home Manager any illness of an infectious nature or accident incurred by a resident, colleague, self, or another.
* Be responsible for infection control in the absence of the Home Manager.
* Understand and ensure implementation of the Nursing Home's Health and Safety policy and Emergency/Fire procedures.
* Carry out duties as Chief Fire Officer for the Nursing Home in line with Health and Safety guidelines.
* Report to the Home Manager any faulty appliances, damaged furniture, equipment, or potential hazards.
* Promote safe working practices within the Nursing Home.
General:
* Adhere to all appropriate NMBI guidelines/regulations.
* Ensure existing stocks are maintained in a safe and tidy environment.
* Maintain log books and records as required by the Health Information and Quality Authority and Directors of the Company.
* Be on-call for emergencies and cover shifts if necessary.
* Ensure confidential information gained in the course of work is not divulged to third parties.
* Notify the Home Manager of inability to report for duty and upon return to work.
* Report directly to the Managing Director in the absence of the Home Manager.
* Maintain security of the Nursing Home at all times.
* Adhere to all Company policies and procedures within defined timescales.
* Ensure all equipment is clean and well-maintained.
* Carry out any other tasks reasonably assigned.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS:
* Current NMBI Registration
* Previous management/supervisory experience
* Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
* Team player
* Genuine interest in working with our Client group
* Certification of Garda Vetting Unit clearance
* Care for the Elderly experience/qualification
