Role Overview
The EHS Advisor plays a key role in supporting the safe delivery of projects by ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety legislation and internal standards. This position works closely with site teams to promote a strong safety culture, prevent incidents, and maintain high EHS performance.
Key Responsibilities
Compliance & Documentation
* Stay up to date with relevant EHS legislation, risk assessments, the company Safety Statement, and internal procedures.
* Prepare and maintain project-specific EHS Plans, site inductions, and RAMS in coordination with site teams.
* Ensure all EHS documentation is current, reviewed regularly, and communicated clearly to all relevant parties.
Advice, Support & Training
* Provide ongoing EHS guidance to site management, employees, contractors, and visitors.
* Deliver training using appropriate materials and submit training records to HR for tracking.
* Attend internal and external safety meetings, coordination meetings, and contribute to team engagement.
Monitoring & Auditing
* Carry out regular site inspections and internal audits with site management.
* Identify risks, opportunities, and non-conformances; recommend corrective actions and follow up as needed.
* Ensure safety files are up to date, hazards are assessed, inspections are carried out, and incidents are fully closed out.
Incident Management
* Respond promptly to incidents or dangerous occurrences.
* Lead or support investigations, determine root causes, and recommend preventive actions.
* Report findings and escalate persistent or serious concerns to management.
Contractor & Site Setup
* Review contractor appointments to ensure only competent personnel are engaged.
* Support the setup of new project sites including EHS files, registers, signage, and compliance with legal requirements.
Reporting & Communication
* Submit monthly KPI reports, site visit schedules, and updates to the EHS Manager and relevant teams.
* Monitor and advise on emergency equipment and PPE requirements.
* Issue non-conformances, commendations, or disciplinary notices as necessary.
Culture & Development
* Promote the company’s safety initiatives and incentive schemes across all projects.
* Maintain professional membership (e.g. IOSH) and participate in continuing professional development.
