Amazon Web Services is looking for a highly motivated, technically savvy Network Infrastructure Deployment Manager to help develop and scale one of the world's largest and most complex networks.
The Deployment Manager (DM) is responsible for managing some of the most technical, cost efficient, and fast paced communication construction project schedules achievable.
AWS Deployment Managers are constantly challenged to drive continuous improvement and deliver the highest quality, most technically efficient connectivity solutions in the world.
As a Deployment Manager you will be a part of a highly creative, efficient team tasked with tackling the most fascinating and challenging problems in fiber construction.
AWS Deployment Managers are always at the forefront of the network construction industry in terms of innovation, and maintain a focus to deliver the most innovative products to our customers.
Our networks are industry leading in terms of capacity and cost effectiveness. The DM is ultimately responsible for end to end network delivery and management of the contractors.
The DM will also be utilized as a leader in their specific discipline (construction management, fiber splicing, OSP Design, ISP Construction or system installation/commissioning) and be responsible as a team member for delivering some of the most complex networks in the world.
Key job responsibilities:
Interface with key internal stakeholders to understand the technical requirements and ensure the completed project meets these requirements.
Responsible for completing assigned project coordination tasks accurately and within specified timelines.
Follow established processes, procedures, and best practices to ensure consistent and high-quality task execution.
Collaborate with local teams in proposed regions to facilitate task completion.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date time tracking records and provide timely and accurate reporting to the Program Manager.
Ensure availability during working hours of each proposed region to provide effective coordination and support.
Project management of construction related activities and DWDM network rollout for new builds or general capital projects. This will include the ownership of the project scope, timeline, and budget.
Ensure that the construction, fiber and optical network adheres to the defined standards.
Perform quality audits and ensure issues are remediated.
Understand the metro fiber market segments, customer base, and industry verticals.
Drive scaling designs to meet the demand of our customers.
Interface with data center providers to drive equipment and circuit installations.
Create detailed network planning packs to build scalable and future proof infrastructure.
Ingest as-built data into GIS system.
Program management, risk mitigation and reporting status reviews to management and internal customers.
Participate in knowledge sharing, contribute to process improvements, and maintain a strong focus on quality and compliance.
Ability to work across multiple time zones.
Willing to travel 25-50% of the time.
Minimum Qualifications:
3+ years of technical infrastructure management experience.
Knowledge of best practices and emerging technologies, related to infrastructure (i.e. network, data center, hardware, software).The right person will be highly technical and analytical, possess over 3 years of network construction management and/or program management experience in a telecom environment.
Understand the fiber business and have worked on multiple telecom construction programs.
Strong technical understanding of transport technologies (Fiber, DWDM, etc.).Excellent attention to detail is essential.
Ability to prioritize multiple competing demands to deliver for the customers in a specific time window.
Relevant experience in project coordination, administration, or related roles, preferably in the Telecommunications domain.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Proficiency in using project management tools, software, and applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a global, cross-functional environment.
Understanding of fiber optic network infrastructure and construction standards.
Familiarity with GIS platforms and quality assurance processes.
PMP certification or equivalent project management experience.
Having strong contacts in fiber, transport and infrastructure markets.
Has led multiple large network construction programs.
Understanding of construction standards in multiple regions.
Understanding of long-haul transmission systems.
Understanding of GIS platforms.
Ability to speak multiple languages.
International business experience.
