Head of Pharmacy
A clinical pharmacy executive manager is sought by a specialist rehabilitation hospital in South Dublin to lead and conduct the day-to-day operations and overall management of the pharmacy service and staff.
Purpose of Position
To own the governance and implementation of Medicine Management within the hospital, ensuring good pharmaceutical practice, legal and ethical, in the provision of the pharmacy service.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Develop a strategic focus on the development of the Health Service Executives Pharmacy Service in line with legislation and national policies.
* Ensure compliance with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI) requirements as described in the Pharmacy Act 2007 and other relevant legislation.
* Develop and advise on the strategic programme and/or technologies required to deliver and maintain the pharmacy service.
* Ensure the needs of patients and professional staff are met by the pharmaceutical service, respecting privacy and confidentiality.
* Lead on pharmacy service planning and monitoring, considering skill mix, staff resources, and advances in technology.
* Liaise with senior colleagues to manage drug expenditure and promote a safety culture that aligns with organisational, national, and professional guidance.
Qualifications and Experience
Requirements include:
* Registration as a pharmacist with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland.
* Greater than 5 years post-qualification hospital experience and practice.
* At least 2 relevant years of experience in pharmacy management and staff supervision.
* Previous experience collaborating and advising multidisciplinary teams and senior leadership.
