Primary Function :
The primary responsibility of the EHS Specialist – Energy & Environmental, is to ensure compliance with all relevant Energy, Environmental and Health and Safety legislation and assist in developing and maintaining systems and procedures that optimises Abbott Diabetes Care Donegal's energy, environmental, health and safety performance.
Foster environmental awareness in the plant and promote a culture of continuous improvement
Major Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance with Abbott and regulatory requirements and provide leadership and direction in environmental management.
Ensure environmental and energy goals and KPI's are established and meet regulatory expectations.
Present and communicate status, report metrics, identify trends potential issues, improvement initiatives, as applicable.
Develop and maintain Energy Management System with Energy Performance Indicators and governance structure.
Take an active role in efforts to optimize energy efficiency on site, reduce carbon emissions and promote pollution prevention.
Assist in the achievement of site and corporate led Sustainability Goals in relation to waste, water, energy management and air emissions, continually striving to reduce ADC's impact on the environment.
Co-ordinate waste management across the site and work with Total Waste Management vendor to ensure compliance, best practice and continuous improvement in waste management.
Conduct waste vendors Audits to ensure compliance with Abbott and with legal standards.
Responsible for Environmental performance reporting of waste, water, energy and air emissions data as required by Division and Corporate.
Oversee compliance with Trade Effluent Licence requirements.
Complete review and assessment of relevant legislation with reference to the Environment and Energy.
Provide support and deliver EHS Training Courses as per relevant standards and requirements.
Prepare environmental and energy award applications and grant applications to Abbott and external organisations.
Ensure all environmental incidents are investigated to establish causation and resolution.
Promote, implement and participate in EHS and Sustainability Committees.
Co-ordinate inspections by regulatory bodies as required.
This Job function will change where updates to EHS, GMP, Technical/New Equipment, and Quality Procedures & SOP's are made or where the business deems necessary.

Education and Years Experience:
A relevant degree or third level qualification in environmental management covering biodiversity management, pollution monitoring, impact assessment, environmental analysis, and environmental and safety issues.
Experience working in an EHS or Environmental function within a regulated environment is beneficial for this role.
Understanding of and experience in ISO management systems implementation including, ISO 14001 is beneficial.
Accountability/Scope:
Reports to EHS Manager.
Scope of decision making relates primarily to the Environmental aspects of activities.
