Job Description:
The Field Applications Engineer is a customer-facing role providing technical support to our Sales function and directly to customers.
You will work with regional sales managers to identify process and equipment improvement opportunities at customer sites.
You will develop and propose solutions, and support delivery of those solutions.
Process and equipment improvement opportunities include troubleshooting, consulting, repair, modification, and upgrade services that improve productivity, accelerate time to market, and reduce operating cost.
You will be part of the Services Business Unit and interface internally with that team as well as other ABEC technical groups and subject matter experts.
This includes developing scope, cost, schedules, and proposals for these services.
In summary, the Field Applications Engineer is a trusted resource supporting the delivery of high value field services and growth of our Services customer base.
Responsibilities:
* Perform tasks within established guidelines and instructions.
* Collaborate with colleagues to define and develop technical and commercial proposals.
* Interpret customer performance requirements and develop optimal technical solutions.
* Interface with Operations functions to communicate customer needs and obtain proposal content.
* Exercise judgement and good communication in resolving conflicting customer expectations.
* Sales Support - Provide advice on product strategies for identified opportunities and train on product capabilities/differentiation.
* Marketing and Product Management - Develop technical content for marketing tools and train both sales and applications on product capabilities.
* Contribute to Continuous Improvement initiatives and track competitor capabilities.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or Ireland Honours Degree (Level 8) Engineering or Science required.
* Minimum 5 years' experience in biopharma capital equipment engineering/design, bioprocess engineering, and/or biopharma manufacturing operations/maintenance.
* Experience with bioprocess equipment such as fermenters, bioreactors, filtration, chromatography, CIP, Single Use Systems, and/or sanitary vessels.
* Demonstrated ability to understand and navigate technical and commercial situations.
* Strong communications and interpersonal skills.
