Overview
The Operations Director is responsible for leading a team of projects and managed services professionals who are dedicated to delivering a project or service to Onnec’s customers. The role includes improving efficiency, productivity and quality whilst delivering in line with budget requirements in a safe and fully compliant working environment.
The role will work very closely with the Sales team and Heads of Country and will report directly to the Ireland Managing Director & Global Head of Operations to ensure the operational focus and delivery of strategies, processes and procedures are fully aligned across Onnec. There will also be a requirement to work with the Operation Directors of Strategic Accounts on occasion to ensure resources are being utilised effectively and shared between the business units when applicable and also to align processes and policy as part of the same Onnec operational team.
Responsibilities of our Operations Director will include:
1. Develop and implement the overall operational strategy in alignment with the Onnec goals and objectives.
2. Understand the unique operational needs and challenges of each account and develop customised operational strategies.
3. Foster deep relationships with key customer stakeholders.
4. Meet and exceed financial/margin expectation deliverables.
5. Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency enhancement.
6. Analyse existing processes and workflows to identify areas for optimisation.
7. Manage and allocate resources efficiently, including budgeting and resource planning.
8. Oversee inventory and supply chain management, ensuring timely availability of materials and resources.
9. Recruit, train, and manage a high-performing operational team.
10. Set clear KPI’s and performance expectations for the team.
11. Provide coaching, guidance, and support to help team members achieve their goals.
12. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g. operations – strategic accounts, sales and country heads) to align strategies and resources.
13. Develop and maintain quality management systems working with the Global Head of Operations and Operations Director – Strategic Accounts.
14. Ensure Onnec’s compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
15. Implement and maintain safety protocols to create a secure working environment.
16. Manage relationships with suppliers and vendors to optimize costs and improve service quality.
17. Negotiate contracts and agreements to secure favourable terms.
18. Provide regular reports and updates to senior management on the performance of key and transactional accounts.
19. Provide guidance and support to team members, ensuring they meet their individual and team targets.
20. Ensure accurate reporting.
21. Communicate client feedback and insights to relevant teams for continuous improvement.
22. Establish key metrics to measure the progress and impact of operations.
What we’re looking for in our Operations Director:
1. Proven experience in global operational leadership and delivery cabling/ICT infrastructure/technology service projects and managed services.
2. Key relationships with Onnec’s customers.
3. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to think strategically and provide practical solutions.
4. Excellent leadership and people management abilities, with the capacity to influence and inspire cross-functional teams.
5. Exceptional communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
6. Strong business acumen and a deep understanding of organisational dynamics.
7. Commercial ability to optimise revenue through project and service delivery models.
8. Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
9. Understanding and experience of the industry.
10. Understanding of contract law and common contract types such as FIDIC/Others.
