Description
Purpose of Role:
* The post holder will be expected to live CHI values and be child-centered, compassionate, progressive and will act with respect, excellence and integrity.
* Assist in implementing a clinical laboratory service that supports the clinical needs of the patients.
* Support the implementation of a ‘quality management’ programme which is patient-centred and which measures and audits performance and client satisfaction.
* Assist in training and leading a team of skilled staff, creating and promoting healthy working relationships.
* Identify and implement operational processes to the standard of best practice in order to optimise use of resources.
Minimum Requirements:
* Bachelor in Science (Applied Science) Honours degree (Biomedical option) from the Technological University of Dublin, Grangegorman.
* Bachelor in Science Honours degree in Biomedical Science from the Joint University College Cork – Cork Institute of Technology course.
* Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences of the Dublin Institute of Technology, Kevin Street or the Cork Institute of Technology awarded prior to 1994.
* Possess Certificate in Medical Laboratory Sciences of the Dublin Institute of Technology, Kevin Street or Cork Institute of Technology or the Galway/ Mayo Institute of Technology (awarded prior to 1997).
* A recognised qualification at least equivalent to the above.
* A postgraduate degree in the field of Medical Laboratory Science.
* Have attained the fellowship examination of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences.
* Be registered with CORU by 31st March 2021.
* Applicants who qualified outside Ireland must provide evidence from CORU Medical Scientist Registration Board that their qualifications have been approved for Medical Scientist and meet criteria for recognition including CORU Application Reference number.
* Have at least 4 years’ experience in a Medical laboratory since qualifying as a Medical Scientist.
* Have experience working in a Microbiology medical laboratory.
