We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced community development worker to work with us on our new Community Connection Project as a Community Link Worker.
Wexford Local Development would like to invite applications for the following position:
Community Link Worker
(Full Time - Fixed term contract for 18 months)
Context:
Wexford Local Development is a community-based organisation working for Co. Wexford. The Community Connection Project (CCP) is one of several national community and local development programmes delivered at local level by WLD on behalf of the Government to create opportunities that promote equality and inclusion and improve quality of life for people and communities. Our work is informed by our organisational values of Respect, Equality, Leadership, Inclusion, and Integrity.
The Community Connection Project (CCP) is a national initiative that uses community development approaches to understand the concerns of communities about immigration and help them develop constructive responses. WLD’s new Community Connection Project (CCP) will develop ways to discuss immigration respectfully and constructively and increase our shared, evidence-informed understanding about the reality of immigration in targeted communities in south Co. Wexford. Through informal education, dialogue, critical analysis, and collaboration, CCP will test, examine, and document different ways to strengthen the capacity of local communities to adapt to the arrival of newcomers constructively.
Purpose of Community Link Worker Role:
The Community Link Worker (CLW) will use community development approaches to address common challenges in specific communities in the south of Co. Wexford, including challenges caused by misinformation/disinformation. The CLW will work on an outreach basis, engaging directly with people in local communities where there are IPAS Centres. The CLW will not ‘firefight’ in communities where conflicts arise. The CLW will work as part of WLD’s broader community development team.
This position is being offered on a full-time basis (35 hours per week for a fixed term of 18 months) and will be subject to continued funding. The position will be based in WLD’s offices, Spawell Road, Wexford.
To apply: please email your CV and letter of application, marked Community Link Worker to hr@wld.ie.
Closing date for receipt of applications: Tuesday, 25th February at 5 p.m.
