Job Title: Health and Safety Executive

Job Specification:
The Health and Safety Executive is responsible for ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations across all construction activities. Additionally, the advisor will oversee quality audits, ensuring adherence to ISO standards, particularly those related to quality management systems (such as ISO 9001). The role will involve working as part of Group Management Health and Safety team to maintain a safe working environment and uphold high-quality standards and support the delivery and oversight of health and safety services to clients in the sports and community sectors, including club audits, safety reviews, and "train the trainer" sessions.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
* Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure all construction documentation complies with relevant health and safety legislation, codes of practice, and company policies.
* Risk Assessments and Safety Audits: Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits, identifying potential hazards and recommending control measures.
* Safety Training and Awareness: Develop and deliver safety training programs to site workers and management, promoting a culture of safety across all levels of the project. This includes facilitating "train the trainer" modules for clients and internal personnel to strengthen long-term safety culture.
* Quality Assurance under ISO Standards: Carry out quality audits in line with ISO 9001 or other applicable ISO standards. Ensure that processes, documentation, and project execution meet the required quality benchmarks.
* Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive records of safety inspections, audits, training sessions, and any safety or quality incidents. Prepare reports for senior management and clients as required.
* Collaboration: Work closely with group management, staff, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure all parties are aware of and adhere to health, safety, and quality standards.
* Compliance with Statutory Requirements: Ensure that all group activities meet statutory health and safety requirements and that safety management systems are up to date and compliant with regulations.
* Continuous Improvement: Promote continuous improvement in health, safety, and quality standards by identifying areas for improvement and implementing new processes as required.
Steps to be Adhered to:
* Office/Site Audits: Conduct both scheduled and unscheduled health and safety audits to monitor compliance with paperwork and identify risks.
* Reporting Procedures: Ensure full compliance with client and company requirements regarding the frequency, quality, and content of health, safety, and quality reports. This includes tailored reporting for external clients, aligning deliverables with their expectations and timelines.
* Program Execution: Assist in developing safety and quality programs to ensure projects are delivered safely, within scope, and with the highest quality standards.
* ISO Certification Maintenance: Ensure continuous adherence to ISO standards and assist in maintaining certification by conducting internal audits and preparing for external audits.
Preferred Requirements:
* 3+ years’ experience
* Qualification in Occupational Health & Safety (IOSH or NEBOSH membership preferred)
* Engineer Graduate and Health and Safety Diploma
* Travel to both internal sites and external client locations (locally and abroad) will be required, depending on project, audit, and training needs.
