Senior Mechanical Estimator

Job Overview:
We are a leading mechanical contractor based in Dublin, seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Mechanical Estimator to join our team. The successful candidate will manage the full tendering process from start to finish, ensuring the delivery of accurate estimates and proposals within specified deadlines. This role also includes responsibility for mentoring junior team members and maintaining strong relationships with key industry vendors.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
* Manage the Tendering Process: Oversee the complete tendering process from initiation through to conclusion, ensuring precision and timely submissions.
* Prepare Accurate Estimates: Compile detailed, well-organized estimates and proposals for projects, meeting tight deadlines.
* Submit and Process Tenders: Ensure all tenders are submitted on time, track and record feedback, and follow up as necessary.
* Tender Queries and Reports: Issue tender queries, respond to any questions, and prepare detailed tender reports.
* Price Negotiation: Negotiate competitive prices with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure cost-effective solutions.
* Cost Database Management: Oversee and maintain an up-to-date cost database, ensuring information accuracy.
* Vendor Relationships: Build and nurture strong relationships with key subcontractors, suppliers, engineers, and other stakeholders.
* Industry Knowledge: Stay informed of developments within the industry and share relevant updates with the team.
* Quality Control Procedures: Assist in developing procedures that ensure the production of high-standard documents within the Estimating Department.
* Team Management: Manage and mentor junior members of the Estimating Team, ensuring professional growth and consistent performance.
Desired Criteria:
* Experience: Minimum of 7+ years of experience in Mechanical Estimating within the construction or mechanical contracting industry.
* Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and at least one widely used estimating platform.
* Attention to Detail: Demonstrated commitment to accuracy and maintaining high-quality standards in all outputs.
* Risk Identification: Ability to identify potential risks within project tenders and proposals.
* Personal Qualities: Highly motivated, dependable, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
* Communication Skills: Strong numeracy, verbal, and written communication skills.
* Driver’s License: Possession of a full driver’s license is advantageous.
