Key Responsibilities
* Oversee the technical planning, design, implementation, and maintenance of television and radio studio infrastructure and production systems.
* Lead a team of skilled engineers, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations, ensuring that staff have the skills and support they need to do their best work.
* Develop and implement strategies to ensure production technology infrastructure solutions are scalable, reliable, secure and future-proofed.
* Manage budgets for technology infrastructure and resources.
* Facilitate collaboration with the wider Technology and Technical Operations teams, and across the organisation.
* Provide thought leadership and strategic guidance for future-proofing RT&E's production infrastructure.
Requirements
* A degree in Broadcast Engineering, Media Technology, Information Technology, or a related technical field (or equivalent technical experience).
* A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar, highly technical role, within broadcast, media or production, with experience managing and maintaining television and radio production systems and infrastructure industry.
* Demonstrated ability to lead and manage multidisciplinary teams, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment, as well as cross-functional collaboration with stakeholders at all levels.
* Experience in strategic planning and executing large-scale infrastructure projects within tight deadlines and budgets.
* In-depth understanding of the media production industry, including trends, challenges, and emerging technologies.
* Familiarity with emerging technologies, such as cloud-based production, virtualised workflows, and remote production systems, and a knowledge of industry standards and protocols, e.g. SMPTE, AES, and IP-based standards including ST 2110.

* Flexibility to work outside normal hours, if necessary, to address critical system issues or project deadlines.
* Willingness to travel occasionally to other sites or for industry events.

This appointment will be made at the Manager Grade 2 level and is being offered on an ongoing contract basis. The salary scale for this grade is from €71,532 to €100,334 gross per annum.
