We are the people behind Ireland’s electricity grid. We operate the power system with world-leading levels of variable asynchronous renewable generation, ensuring that everyone has power when they need it. But that’s not all, we are now transforming the power system for future generations.
And that’s just the beginning of our story. We have a critical purpose. That purpose is to transform the power system to enable our society to reduce our carbon emissions and meet our climate change and net zero ambitions.
Be part of the transformation!
The Opportunity
We are now seeking a Senior Lead Engineer to join our System Integrity team. The role of Senior Lead Engineer will support the System Integrity function by leading technical projects associated with its generation and transmission outage planning function and the integration with the continental European transmission system ahead of the Celtic Interconnector becoming operational. The role holder will project manage and lead the analysis of technical problems, propose solutions, prepare presentations and reports, and lead the development of new tools, procedures, and policy.
The Team
The Operations and Asset Management Office within EirGrid comprises highly skilled professionals with backgrounds in engineering and business/commerce. Ireland has a target to achieve 80% of our electricity to come from renewable resources by 2030 and to be net carbon neutral by 2050. The Operations and Asset Management Office is central to the delivery of our primary role – the operation, development, and enhancement of the all-island power system and the wholesale electricity market.
The System Integrity function is responsible for operational planning from 10 years out to close to real time, power system protection and metering, driving effectiveness and efficiency, embedding transformational change, and ensuring EirGrid Group’s core remit is delivered. This is an excellent opportunity for innovative, solution-focused, and motivated individuals to join our team and play a key role in the transition to a low carbon energy future.
