Role title
Strategy Analyst
Your role
Reporting into the director of strategy, this person would play a critical part in developing Aer Lingus’s long-term strategy, addressing key business challenges, and evaluating promising opportunities. In addition, this person would fill a pivotal role in crafting the airline’s annual business plan which lays out our 3-year strategy. The successful candidate would provide analytical leverage to a small and nimble team and have exposure to a wide variety of stakeholders across the organization including the chief strategy & planning officer. On a regular basis, the successful candidate would interact with the network, revenue management, fleet, customer, finance, and operations teams. This group affords the ability to think about the business & industry in a holistic and long-term manner. In addition, our group can incorporate other external factors into our work—e.g. country demographics, competitor actions, macro trends—in a way that makes this work quite fulfilling. The role provides a great opportunity to learn about the airline industry, think through intellectually challenging business issues, and develop their skills in a close-knit and welcoming environment. In addition, our Strategy & Planning Department helps us to push forward Aer Lingus’ ambition by driving sustainability programs and ensuring that strategic planning supports environmentally responsible practices, aligning with the airline’s long-term sustainability goals. Your responsibilities as a Strategy Analyst will include, 1. Draw insights from:Analysing business performance (e.g., route profitability, costs, forward bookings)Conducting research (e.g., competitor financials, industry data, airline databases)Speaking with external parties (e.g., trade groups)Monitoring competitor strategies to identify market opportunities and threatsBuilding financial models to assess trade-offs and impacts of decisions2. Package insights into presentations for executives,board of directors, and other stakeholders 3. Collaborate with peers to:Access key inputs for modelling and business recommendationsTo push projects forward4. Support business planning process including preparing board presentations5. Develop business cases to support growth initiatives 6. Respond to ad-hoc projects from senior leaders7. Interact with senior leaders across the organisation
Your qualifications and key criteria
We are looking for an individual with experience / qualifications in the following areas:Undergraduate degree qualification2+ years professional experienceIdeally, currently in a post-university role in consulting or banking Strong analytical, quantitative and research skills (e.g., excel, tableau, fluency with data)Familiarity with basic financial concepts (e.g., components of a profit & loss statement)Ability to draw insights from disparate data and tell a storyPresentation skill set (e.g., powerpoint)Strong communication and interpersonal skillsIntellectually curiousNatural problem solverProven capability to work effectively under pressure and commitment to producing high quality output to tight deadlinesFluent in English, both written and spokenEligible to live and work in the EUCurrent unrestricted worldwide passportProvide three verifiable referencesAble to pass a five year security background check as this role is based in Dublin Closing Date: 02nd of April 2025At Aer Lingus, we embrace diversity and believe in providing equal opportunities to all qualified individuals.
