About the Role
As a Bright Workshop Controller, you will manage and develop the Workshop, provide technical support to staff and customers.
You will ensure maximum utilisation and quality from the workshop and achieve customer satisfaction.
The role involves efficiently carrying out repairs and services on vehicles to the highest standard.
A high level of customer service is expected, with prompt and efficient handling of customer concerns and queries.
Your goal will be to meet and exceed customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in controlling service and repair work in the workshop to maximise sales and profitability.
* Control the workshop through efficient operation of the planner and loading work for each technician.
* Maximise profitability by driving workshop hours and managing workload.
* Ensure the quality of work delivered is of the highest standard.
* Control the planner, record information on work carried out to customer vehicles.
* Communicate with the Service Adviser or directly with the customer to clarify instructions.
* Meet personally with the customer to identify problems such as intermittent faults.
* Oversee a team of Technicians and support front of house Teams within the service department.
* Highlight problems with PDIs and refer to the Service Manager.
* Maintain workshop housekeeping standards and report any additional tools or equipment required.
* Communicate best practice solutions to colleagues.
* Provide estimates for servicing and repairs and set timescales.
* Maintain thorough product knowledge and update your knowledge through manufacturer-led training.
* Report defects immediately to the Service Manager.
* Monitor the technical information library and report any shortfalls.
Requirements
* Demonstrable ability to meet and exceed targets.
* Strong Technical knowledge.
* Previous experience in a similar or technical role is essential.
* Demonstrate people management experience overseeing a large team.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Qualified Technician/Mechanic with certificates would be desirable.
* Demonstrate effective persuasion skills and high levels of managerial ability.
* IT Literate including Microsoft Office suite.
* Self-motivating and able to manage own workload.
* Excellent interpersonal skills.
* A friendly and professional manner.
* Highly organised and focused.
* Ability to work equally well alone and as part of a wider team.
* Excellent numerical skills.
* Full driving license.
