Entegro is seeking a highly skilled Fibre Splicing Technician with a specialization in fibre optics to join our expanding team in Dublin. As an integral part of our Field Operations Team, you will be responsible for surveying, planning, and executing fibre optic splicing and testing works to enable the provision of high-speed internet services to residential, business, and MDU (Multi-Dwelling Unit) customers.
Responsibilities
1. Performing splice build works, including cabling, fibre splicing, commissioning, and testing.
2. Installation and splicing of new cable and enclosures.
3. Splicing and installation of infrastructure in existing chambers or enclosure locations.
4. Testing of network and splices using varying methods.
5. Ability to follow design drawings, schematics and splice schematics.
6. Highly experienced in splicing and the use of varying splice machines.
7. Be able to test all splices within certain limits and identify any issues and root causes.
8. Liaise with manager’s daily & issue detailed reports.
9. Train other members of staff as required.
10. Ensure Entegro and our clients HSEQ standards are met at all times.
11. Escalate issues appropriately to ensure timely close out.
12. Ability to maintain records of daily work logs, data recordings, and network design maps.
13. Ability to operate communications devices and company vehicles in accordance with company policies.
14. Carry out ad-hoc duties as requested by your line manager.
Skills required
1. 5+ years of experience in similar role.
2. Experience with OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer), ILM (Insertion Loss Measurement), and OPM (Optical Power Meter) testing.
3. Experience with fusion splicing, termination types, and testing with tools like OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer), OLTS (Optical Loss Test Set), and VFL (Visual Fault Locator).
4. Experience in installing and testing fibre optic networks, including premises and outside plant installations.
5. Understanding of fibre optic components and systems, including cables, patchcords, active devices, and communication systems.
6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
7. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
8. Strong problem-solving abilities with a logical approach.
9. A client-focused mindset, ensuring customer satisfaction.
10. Willingness to travel as required.
11. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
12. Comfortable working outdoors & at heights.
13. Effective time management skills to maximize efficiency in daily tasks.
14. Professional and courteous demeanour when interacting with third parties and the public.
15. Must hold a full category B drivers’ licence.
Desirable
1. City & Guilds Certification in Fibre Installation & Testing, or equivalent.
2. SLG (Sign, Lighting & Guarding).
3. SIRO experience.
