Jennings O’Donovan are seeking to recruit an experienced Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Advisor to join our HSEQ Department. The successful candidate will fulfil project HSEQ requirements, mainly in the role of Project Supervisor for the Design Process/Principle Designer, while supporting our employees with regards to HSEQ matters. This role offers the opportunity to become involved in our ISO accreditation and continuous improvement within the business while also providing support and advice to colleagues. You will need:
* Recognised relevant professional qualification (Engineering or Architecture or Science or Construction preferred).
* Minimum of 10 years of safety (design/construction) / projects experience.
* Understanding of ISO Management Procedures and Implementation.
* Member of a recognised Engineering, Architectural or Occupational H&S professional body/Chartered Status (Advantageous).
* Good communication and people skills with excellent attention to detail.
* Self-motivated / Able to work on their own initiative.
* Enthusiastic and willing to learn.
* Excellent computer skills – proficiency in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
* Drivers License and ability to travel.
The role will involve:
* Perform the Project Supervisor for Design Process Co-ordinator/Principle Designer role on projects.
* Support project teams to deliver projects that are compliant with the applicable statutory requirements with respect to occupational health and safety in design.
* Support JOD project teams to implement Quality policies, procedures, process and tools for health and safety in design.
* Support project managers to determine the essential design safety related reviews and risk assessments for a project.
* Chair design safety related reviews as your competence allows.
* Provide design safety advice to the engineering design disciplines and construction services.
* Provide technical support to project teams and our own work colleagues.
* Deliver design safety related training.
* Participate in design safety related continuous improvement projects.
* Providing support and advice to our own colleagues in relation to HSEQ matters.
* Management of our ISO Management Systems – continuous improvement, compliance monitoring and re-certification.
* Conducting health and safety audits, preparing health and safety statements, drafting risk assessments, and managing health and safety in collaboration with our work colleagues and our safety committee.
* Lead and promote continuous improvement in relation to all health, safety and environmental work practices.
* Develop, maintain and foster collaborative relationships with the wider project team.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
* Be recognised as a Leader in and keep abreast of current technology, regulatory and industry standards for design safety in the workplace (including construction).
* Knowledge of the suite of statutory requirements typically applicable to construction projects.
* Design hazard identification & risk assessment processes.
* Provide Temporary Works co-ordination and 3rd party designer management.
* Compilation and management of Safety Files.
* Co-ordination with the PSCS and the construction management teams.
* Be competent to Chair some EHS, technical, regulatory and process safety reviews.
* Perform work in compliance with JOD’s Quality Management System.
* Provide advice to the project / design teams to ensure that the design safety related reviews and risk assessments are adequately planned and sequenced and that they are included in the project schedules.
* Deliver support to multiple projects in a timely fashion to meet project schedules.
* Provide design safety advice to the project / design teams to improve engagement and understanding of the reviews process.
* Work with the Project Managers to ensure there is sufficient capacity and capability to deliver safe designs.
* Provide technical support to all office projects in the areas of design safety including coordination of design safety.
* Represent JOD with customers and manage customer interface as appropriate to your project role.
* Input to proposals and attend presentations to customers.
* Track the progress of design safety related technical reviews and design risk assessments.
