Financial Controller Position
The Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Finance for the company, ensuring that financial records are accurately updated and maintained in a timely manner. They will produce reports to facilitate business decisions and collaborate with the Directors and Board to create forecasts and budget plans for future business development.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
* Financial Processes: Ensure that financial processes and controls in Solmatix are effective and fit for purpose, developing and refining them to drive greater transparency and efficiency.
* Cash Management: Work with the Operations Director to ensure stock and WIP schedules are timely and accurate, and ensure consolidated management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations are completed accurately and on time.
* Debt and Creditor Control: Maintain strict cash disciplines and manage debt and creditor relationships effectively.
* Staff Management: Act as line manager for two Assistant Accountants, supporting staff development and encouraging process improvement.
* Systems Development: Review the existing accounting system (Sage 50) and consider migrating if required, developing and managing system upgrades to improve accuracy and timeliness of financial data.
* Reporting: Produce timely, accurate financial reports and analysis for the Managing Director, Operations Director, and Board, investigating and reporting on deviations from budget and prior year.
* Forecasting and Budgeting: Work with the sales and operations teams to produce the annual budget for Solmatix and interim forecasts, challenging underlying assumptions and providing a robust finance voice in evaluating future business opportunities.
Essential Criteria:
* Holder of a professional accountancy qualification (CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent).
* Minimum three years post-qualified experience.
* Good IT systems knowledge and experience, especially in Accounting Systems and Office.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate financial information effectively.
* Confident self-starter with strong motivation and workload management skills.
* Attention to detail and ability to produce accurate and timely financial information.
