Psychologist Base Grade to Senior Grade Dublin South Mental Hospital
Psychology Opportunities
An excellent Mental Health Hospital in Dublin South has opportunities for Base Grade to Senior Grade Psychologists.
The Psychologist position involves working with adults and older adult service users who experience severe and enduring mental health difficulties and neurodegenerative disorders.
Work Location: Dublin South
Hours of Work per week: 37 hours
Key Responsibilities:
1. Working with individuals to provide basic psychoeducation sessions, for example anxiety management, stress reduction, emotional regulation, behavioral analysis, and listening space.
2. Co-ordination and some co-facilitation of a variety of group psychological therapy programmes with different clinical populations.
3. Preparation and delivery of the group psychological therapy programmes.
4. Conduct pre- and post-intervention psychometric assessments, including self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations, and semi-structured interviews with patients referred to psychology department.
5. Maintain collaborative working relationships with the Psychology Department, providing regular feedback from relevant programmes as needed.
6. Promoting the role of psychological services through the communication/provision of relevant information to interested parties.
7. As required, undertake data collection, analysis, the production of reports and summaries in relation to the population psychological interventions.
8. Participate in research projects, audits, and service evaluations as needed.
9. Attend regular individual and team supervision.
10. Work with other members of the MDT, in particular nursing staff to support work with this patient group.
11. Maintenance of equipment necessary to the running of the psychological service such as training equipment (e.g., manuals, testing materials, CDs), information packs, and library resources.
Requirements:
Essential Qualifications:
1. Degree in Psychology taken as a single subject.
2. Excellent communication skills.
Desirable:
1. Previous experience working either in a voluntary or paid position with clinical populations, in particular severe and enduring mental health and/or neurodegenerative disorders.
2. Previous research experience.
3. Some experience co-administering psychological assessments, scoring, and report writing.
4. Experience of working in an MDT is highly desirable.
