We are seeking applications for the role of Social Care Workers. At Dídean, we are committed to providing exceptional care and support for unaccompanied minors in our children’s residential services. This is an exciting opportunity focused on providing care for young people aged 11 to 17. Our mission is to create a safe, nurturing, and empowering environment where these young individuals can heal, grow, and develop essential life skills.
Key Responsibilities:
* Direct Care: Provide comprehensive day-to-day support to unaccompanied minors, including assistance with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and household tasks.
* Emotional Support: Build trusting relationships with residents to foster a sense of security and belonging, promoting their emotional well-being and resilience.
* Individual Development Plans: Collaborate with social workers and other professionals to create and implement personalised care and development plans tailored to each child’s needs.
* Activity Coordination: Organise and lead educational and recreational activities that promote social skills, personal development, and community integration.
* Crisis Intervention: Respond effectively to challenging behaviours and crisis situations, employing de-escalation techniques and providing emotional support.
* Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in accordance with organisational policies and regulatory requirements.
* Safeguarding: Ensure the safety and welfare of all residents by adhering to safeguarding protocols, conducting risk assessments, and reporting any concerns promptly.
* Team Collaboration: Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including social workers, educators, and healthcare providers, to coordinate care and support for each child.
Qualifications:
A relevant qualification in Social Care or a related field.
Registration with CORU or working towards the same.
Experience:
Prior experience working with children and young people, especially in a residential or social care setting, is highly desirable. Experience with unaccompanied minors is a plus.
Skills:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with young people from diverse backgrounds.
Empathy, patience, and the ability to build rapport quickly.
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Knowledge of child development principles and the specific challenges faced by unaccompanied minors.
