Title: Laboratory Technician/Analyst (Environmental/Utility) Contract Duration/Type: Permanent Location: Dublin 8 Hybrid/Onsite: Onsite Working Pattern (Time/Hours): 39 hours per week.
Monday - Friday 08.00am - 4.00pm.
Overview of the role: The Environmental Utility Analyst will work as part of a small site team carrying out sampling and testing of external utilities and environmental streams to support compliance of the host site with licence conditions and both statutory and corporate regulations.
Working closely with the Lead Analyst and Lab Supervisor, the Analyst will provide timely and accurate sampling and testing and ensure instruments are calibrated and maintained in accordance with company procedures.
There is a requirement for the successful analyst to work one weekend in four (Saturday and Sunday) for which one day off in lieu will be given in both the week preceding (Fri) and the week following the weekend shift (Mon).
There will also be a requirement for bank holiday cover (in rotation - max 4 per annum) with a day in lieu provided for days covered.
The salary offered will include a shift premium to cover the weekend and bank holiday work.
The shift premium incorporates the flexibility to cover the weekend rota in the event of sickness as and when required (by agreement within the laboratory group participating in the shift rota) Duties of the Role include; Sampling: Collection of routine and no- routine samples, which include effluent wastewater, water and utility samples for both internal and external analysis.
Analysis of Utility Water samples for Chlorine, Nitrate, pH, Conductivity, Total and Permanent Hardness, Alkalinity and Microbiological Testing (TVC's, coliforms).
Analysis of environmental samples for BOD, COD, SS, Ph.
Operate, maintain and perform routine calibrations on test equipment.
Familiar with operation of external composite samplers and Toc Meters.
Responsible for the technical accuracy of the results produced, ensuring compliance with the sampling plan, recording data on relevant data bases, carrying out Quality Control checks and investigating non conforming work.
To comply with company Environmental, Health, Safety and Standard Operating Procedures.
Required skills for this role; Display good team working and interpersonal skills, while working flexibly within a small shift team.
Minimum 6 months to 1 year's relevant experience in an Analytical laboratory environment experience.
Level 7 or Level 8 Qualification in Environmental Science/Applied Science.
Knowledge in water quality and effluent treatment monitoring and testing.
Good understanding of quality, environmental and safety management systems.
Attention to detail, computer skills ( Excel), the ability to undertake several tasks at the same time and process troubleshooting skills.
Understanding of Basic Instrumentation.
