The Group Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) Director is responsible for developing and implementing the organisation's health, safety, environmental, and quality management strategies across multiple operational sites. This role ensures that all HSEQ policies, procedures, and regulations are adhered to, maintaining high standards of compliance with national and international standards. The Director will lead efforts to promote a culture of safety, sustainability, and continuous improvement across all levels of the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership & Strategy:
* Lead the development and implementation of the company's HSEQ vision, strategy, and policies.
* Advise the executive leadership team on all HSEQ-related matters and ensure alignment with business goals.
* Promote a strong HSEQ culture across the organisation, fostering collaboration and proactive participation from all departments.
* Ensure HSEQ considerations are incorporated into strategic business decisions and project planning.
2. Health & Safety Management:
* Oversee the creation, maintenance, and enforcement of health and safety programs across all operational sites.
* Ensure compliance with all local, national, and international health and safety regulations.
* Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
* Champion a zero-accident workplace and oversee incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of preventive measures.
* Regularly review health and safety policies to ensure effectiveness and legal compliance.
3. Environmental Management:
* Develop and implement environmental strategies and action plans to ensure corporate sustainability and legal compliance.
* Oversee waste management, pollution control, and resource optimization efforts.
* Monitor environmental performance and ensure that environmental impacts are minimized, in line with the company’s sustainability goals.
* Lead environmental audits and ensure that the company meets its environmental regulatory obligations.
4. Quality Assurance:
* Oversee the company's Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring that processes comply with ISO or other relevant standards.
* Monitor and report on quality performance, ensuring that company products and services meet or exceed customer expectations.
* Lead quality improvement initiatives and implement corrective actions to address any quality concerns.
* Ensure compliance with industry standards, certifications, and regulatory requirements across all products, services, and processes.
5. Compliance & Risk Management:
* Ensure all company activities adhere to legal, regulatory, and industry standards in relation to HSEQ.
* Proactively identify HSEQ risks across the business and put in place appropriate controls to mitigate these risks.
* Prepare and present detailed reports on the company’s HSEQ performance to the executive leadership team.
* Drive continuous improvement in all areas of HSEQ through regular audits, training, and education programs.
6. Team Leadership:
* Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing HSEQ team across multiple sites.
* Promote a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement within the HSEQ team.
* Collaborate closely with site managers, operational teams, and external stakeholders to drive HSEQ initiatives.
7. Training & Development:
* Develop and oversee the HSEQ training programs to ensure employees are educated on health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
* Conduct regular training sessions on incident management, risk assessment, and safety protocols.
* Foster an environment of continuous learning and professional development within the HSEQ team.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
* NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification in health and safety.
* Minimum of 10+ years’ experience in a senior HSEQ leadership role, ideally within construction sector.
* Strong knowledge of health, safety, environmental, and quality standards, regulations, and best practices.
* Proven track record of leading HSEQ initiatives across multiple sites and driving continuous improvement.
* Experience working with ISO standards (45001, 14001, 9001) and other relevant certifications.
