Drogheda Women & Children’s Refuge is seeking a dedicated trustee with expertise in the community and voluntary sector. We are particularly interested in candidates with recent and relevant experience or knowledge of Community Employment (CE) Schemes. The role involves ensuring effective governance, compliance, and oversight of the CE Scheme to support its objectives and alignment with best practices.
Objectives of the Role:
1. Act as a member of the Project Management Committee to oversee the financial, programmatic, and training aspects of the CE Scheme.
2. Ensure adherence to corporate governance guidelines as outlined by the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection (DEASP).
3. Collaborate closely with the CEO and CE Scheme Supervisor to support the effective delivery of the scheme.
4. Provide regular governance updates and reports to the Board of Trustees.
5. Ensure robust financial measures, controls, and procedures are in place to sustain the scheme’s operations.
Principal Responsibilities:
Governance and Oversight:
1. Monitor the overall governance, progress, and outcomes of the CE Scheme.
2. Provide guidance to ensure compliance with DEASP corporate governance guidelines.
Financial Oversight:
1. Oversee the financial management of the CE Scheme to ensure accountability and sustainability.
2. Monitor and review financial measures, controls, and procedures for accuracy and effectiveness.
Programme and Training Support:
1. Support the CE Scheme Supervisor in monitoring participants’ Individual Learning Plans (IPLs).
2. Evaluate the alignment of training programmes with participant and organisational objectives.
Reporting and Communication:
1. Report regularly to the Board of Trustees on the governance and performance of the CE Scheme.
2. Collaborate with the CEO and CE Scheme Supervisor to address challenges and develop solutions.
