The Royal Marine Hotel is excited to announce an opening for the role of Junior Sous Chef to join our culinary team.
We are seeking for a talented, experienced and dynamic individual who will contribute to our tradition of excellence and innovation in culinary arts.
Job Summary: The Junior Sous Chef assists the Sous Chef and Executive Chef in the daily operations of the kitchen.
This role involves food preparation, overseeing kitchen staff, maintaining kitchen hygiene and ensuring that all dishes meet the restaurant's standards of quality and presentation.
Key Responsibilities: Ensure that all food is prepared according to the restaurant's recipes and standards.
Supervise and train kitchen staff, including Chefs and Commis Chefs.
Ensure that all kitchen operations run smoothly and efficiently.
Take charge of the kitchen in the absence of the seniour chefs.
Manage inventory to minimize waste and control costs.
Maintain and ensure high standards of food quality, presentation and hygiene.
Address any issues or complaints related to food quality promptly.
Ensure that all kitchen areas comply with health and safety regulations.
Conduct regular cleaning and maintenance of kitchen equipment.
Implement and enforce food safety protocols.
Work closely with the Sous Chef and Head Chef to develop and refine recipes.
Coordinate with other departments, such as front of house staff, to ensure smooth service.
Participate in team meetings and contribute to menu planning and development.
Skills and Qualifications: Proficiency in various cooking techniques and methods.
Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations.
Ability to operate kitchen equipment and tools.
Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in a high-volume kitchen.
Experience in supervising and training kitchen staff.
Efficiently managing time to ensure all dishes are prepared and served on schedule.
Clear and effective communication with kitchen staff and other departments.
Ability to handle unexpected challenges and changes in a fast-paced environment.
