We are looking for a Custodian who maintains cleanliness standards in our common areas and assists our residents with cleaning and housekeeping while establishing meaningful and lasting relationships with those who call Friendship Village home!

Responsibilities:
* Maintains knowledge of principles of hard-surface floor maintenance and uses proper procedures on hard floor care including stripping and refinishing, burnishing, spray cleaning, and spray buffing.
* Utilizes automated equipment for cleaning large areas of floor surface.
* Uses proper procedures on carpet and upholstery including shampooing, damp surface, extractions, spot cleaning, vacuuming, etc.
* Operates the industrial floor care equipment as assigned.
* Performs maintenance and restorative processes for all floor surface types.
* Cleans floors: Dry mop, wet mop, sweep, disinfect where and when necessary. Vacuums carpeting/rugs and spot cleans. Shampoos carpets as assigned.
* Refinishes floors: strips, seals, puts on finish and spray buffs floors.
* Knowledge of housekeeping equipment (rotary floor buffer and carpet cleaner, extractor, pressure cleaner). Ability to do minor repairs on vacuum cleaners and floor and carpet equipment.
* Follows cleaning schedule (daily, weekly, monthly, etc.) as outlined for the ESS Department. Cleans assigned areas, furnishings, and fixtures according to established procedures.
* Moves and cleans furnishings and fixtures, including but not limited to dusting, spot cleaning, and washing. Disinfects when necessary and polishes when required.
* Cleans offices, dining rooms, break rooms, laundry rooms, resident rooms, resident apartments, storage rooms, halls, stairways, entrances, and exits.
* Empties, cleans, and relines wastebaskets.
* Performs emergency housekeeping when accidents occur, including but not limited to bodily fluid clean up.
* Straightens or rearranges furniture as directed.
* Removes for cleaning and re-hangs when clean, curtains, drapes, or dividers.
Qualifications:
* A desire to make a difference!
* Willingness to grow!
* High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
* Proven knowledge of floor care equipment and techniques required.
* Must be able to follow safety procedures and precautions due to physical risks.
* Requires frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling of up to 50 lbs.
* Must have the ability to follow written and/or oral instructions and understand concepts of measurements.
* Ability to communicate effectively in English, orally and in writing.
