Executive Planner
The purpose of this recruitment campaign is to form a panel from which permanent or temporary positions may be filled.
The successful candidate will be assigned to the Planning Department of Cavan County Council and will work under the control and supervision of the Senior Planner or other designated officer.
Duties & Responsibilities
The Executive Planner duties include, but are not limited to the following:
* Assess planning applications and pre-application proposals and planning enforcement issues against the Council’s, national and regional policies and provide recommendations and policy responses to these as required.
* Provide opinions and recommendations on exempt development and other legislation as required.
* Prepare and implement Development Plan/Local Area Plan / Strategic Development Zone planning schemes and prepare reports on these matters for the Chief Executive and appropriate Committees of the Council.
* Assist the preparation / reviews / monitoring of Development Plan / Local Area Plans / Strategic Development Zone planning schemes.
* Assist the preparation of planning studies and EU funded research projects.
* Assist in the Council’s work on Active Land Management.
* Assist with the delivery of Local Infrastructure Housing Activation and Urban Regeneration Development Fund initiatives.
* Assist in the preparation and implementation of climate action works.
* Monitoring and reporting on implementation progress, including gathering / analysis of development and market activity.
* Liaising and working with constituent planning authorities and other public authorities on all aspects of implementation.
* Assist and provide advice to Chief Executive, appropriate Committees of the Council, individuals, groups on planning related issues.
* Mentor and supervise staff in their functional area.
* Conform to Health & Safety standards with the Local Authority.
* Any other associated duties as may be assigned from time to time.
