PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT
Under the direction of the Farm Seed Manager, this position is responsible for managing & promoting the corn and soybean product lines for Seedway in Maine, New England States, New York, Ohio, and Michigan. The C&S Product Manager will collaborate with the Northern Corn and Soybean Product Manager for selection, introduction, promotion, life cycle, and inventory management of these products.
SUPERVISION AND LEADERSHIP
Provides supervision and leadership for sales and necessary product support staff.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Collaborates on the C&S business for Seedway brands and helps prepare the annual budget for sales and margin attainment.
2. Participates in sales activities, product needs, and service requirements to ensure maximum sales opportunity, margin, efficiency, and synergy.
3. Manages corn and soybean trials according to company goals, including necessary university trials.
4. Participates in sales activities such as customer meetings, trade shows, and sales meetings to stay informed on sales trends and environment.
5. Analyzes yield data for hybrid/variety recommendations and communicates results to sales staff.
6. Monitors inventory to ensure availability and proper production levels, providing supply updates and recommendations for replacement.
7. Provides product and agronomic support, inventory insight, and product information to the sales force and customers regularly.
8. Coordinates development and printing of sales literature with Seedway Marketing Manager and Growmark Seed Division Marketing Manager.
9. Collects phenotypic information, analyzes yield data, and provides product introduction recommendations based on replicated plot data.
10. Maintains professional relationships with genetic suppliers and trait providers.
11. Utilizes GROWMARK, Inc. professionals as appropriate to facilitate product line and brand development.
12. Coordinates advertising content and schedules with the Director of Marketing of Seedway.
13. Works with System Seed Partner Professionals to grow market share and improve profitability.
14. Maintains industry and university contacts to stay informed on developing trends and product introductions.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
Supports and contributes to total company goals and objectives through collaboration efforts. Follows GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA, and DOT policies and procedures as applicable. Performs all other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Normally requires a bachelor's degree in agriculture, marketing, or a business-related discipline, or equivalent, and 5-7 years of agronomy sales experience demonstrating knowledge of seed, fertilizer, crop protection products, market analysis, pricing strategies, and supply forecasts.
Proven sales leadership and closing techniques, ability to build relationships, identify producer needs, and make whole farm proposals.
Excellent communication, customer service, interpersonal, presentation, and persuasion skills. Demonstrated planning, time management, and organizational skills.
Ability to be self-directed, make decisions, and work in a team-oriented environment.
Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
Ability and willingness to participate in required training related to GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training as required.
