The British Embassy in Dublin is part of a world-wide network, representing UK political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking to recruit a Senior Investment Advisor for the Department for Business and Trade (DBT).
The Department for Business and Trade (DBT) has overall responsibility for promoting UK trade across the world and attracting foreign investment to the UK. The DBT team in Ireland is now seeking to recruit a Senior Investment Advisor who will report into the Head of Investment. The successful candidate will be active in delivering business services to support inward investment from Ireland to the UK.
What will you be expected to achieve?
* Assist Head of Investment in designing and delivering the DBT Ireland Investment business plan.
* Attract high value investment projects into the UK through active targeting and working closely with clients in realising their investment objectives.
* Proactively conduct lead generation and prospecting for new investment projects by identifying, targeting and engaging with investment decision-makers at relevant companies in focus sectors.
* Lead on relationship management for a portfolio of Irish companies with investment projects in priority sectors and support them with investor aftercare by responding to their requirements to facilitate their investments in the UK.
* Lead on specific industry sector/s research, horizon scanning, business intelligence monitoring and insight analysis and prepare reports and briefings for senior leaders.
* Lead on specific inward and outward delegation visits, setting up programmes, matchmaking Irish companies with tailored UK propositions, and following up opportunities.
* Achieve personal and team performance metrics and ensure prompt reporting on KPIs.
* Contribute to the wider work of the British Embassy in Dublin through corporate activities such as official visits and other Embassy wide events.
Essential qualifications, skills and experience
Essential on arrival:
* English Language skills at C1 level under the CEFR level or above/equivalent.
* Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in business development, sales and/or advising Irish companies relating to foreign market entry.
* Excellent interpersonal, influencing and relationship building skills across all levels incl. C-level contacts.
* Commercially focussed with a strong B2B background in an international environment.
* Effective communication skills (both written and verbal) with experience in preparing and writing reports or briefings.
* Excellent knowledge of the Irish market and corporate environment.
* Experience of coordinating virtual teams through the client life cycle from initial interaction to project verification and aftercare in a cross functional and multi-stakeholder environment.
* Experience of analysing monthly, quarterly, & annual FDI trends, identifying evolving market trends, business intelligence and sharing these insights with relevant internal and external stakeholders.
Desirable qualifications, skills and experience
* Previous experience of working for or with Government organisations in a cross-governmental environment.
* Business degree or similar.
* Direct experience of working within an Embassy or Consular setting would be a distinct advantage.
* Experience of working with agribusinesses, the digital tech sector and at least one other industry sector.
* A good understanding of UK Government policy and the UK business and political environment particularly in relevant sector areas.

The successful candidate will be subject to a six-month probationary period and will be employed on a fixed-term contract basis for 23 months. The appointment is subject to satisfactory reference and security checks.
