About Technical Operations
BioMarin’s Technical Operations group is responsible for creating our drugs for use in clinical trials and for scaling production of those drugs for the commercial market. These engineers, technicians, scientists and support staff build and maintain BioMarin’s cutting-edge manufacturing processes and sites, provide quality assurance and quality control to ensure we meet regulatory standards, and procure the needed goods and services to support manufacturing and coordinating the worldwide movement of our drugs to patients.
Lead Facilities Engineer - Shanbally, Cork
Hybrid Role - Minimum 3 days per week onsite

Role:
Reporting to the Manager, Engineering & Reliability, the Lead Facilities Engineer is responsible for maintaining and improving the Shanbally facility. This includes managing service contracts, coordinating workplace planning, and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Ensure health and safety standards are met, coordinating contractor work permits.
* Oversee facility repairs, installations, and maintenance projects.
* Manage civil/structural projects and space planning.
* Handle service contracts for landscaping, fire systems, cleaning, and building upkeep.
* Conduct inspections and integrity testing of underground services.
* Prepare budgets and forecasts for capital and operational expenses.
* Ensure compliance with cGMP regulations and local quality procedures.
* Plan and execute site maintenance shutdowns.
* Supervise external service providers and manage the Shanbally Canteen.
* Prepare facilities for audits and special events.
* Oversee the Pest Control Programme.
* Ensure contractor training and documentation compliance.
* Lead investigation teams and manage CAPAs for facility-related issues.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field).
* 8+ years of facilities engineering experience, preferably in biopharmaceutical manufacturing.
* Proven leadership and team management skills.
* Strong knowledge of HVAC, civil, electrical, and plumbing systems.
* Familiarity with regulatory requirements and GMP standards.
* Excellent problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.
