About the Team
Deloitte's growing Tax Controversy team provides advice and tactical support throughout the tax controversy life-cycle.
We provide an integrated service in collaborating with our colleagues across the tax practice and servicing clients across the tax heads.
About the Opportunity
As a Manager/Assistant Manager in the Tax Controversy team, you will help our clients prevent and manage tax risk and navigate interactions with the Revenue Commissioners and the Tax Appeals Commission.
You will consult and liaise with the service lines and/or clients on proactive tax risk management, tax audits/interventions and tax appeals.
You will research and analyse a broad range of tax issues to assist in developing controversy management strategies.
You will review the tax issues under Revenue scrutiny and support audit readiness assessments.
You will draft communications in the tax intervention and tax appeal process and attend meetings with clients and the Revenue Commissioners.
You may also attend hearings at the Tax Appeals Commissioners.
You will support in the preparation of pre-hearing documents in the tax appeal process.
You will oversee the work of team members at associate level and play a key coaching role in the development of the associate group.
You will present in-house training courses and assist with client presentations as required.
About You
You require a tax qualification.
A legal and/or accountancy qualification would be advantageous but not required.
Experience across more than one tax head is preferable but not required.
Experience in Revenue Interventions and tax risk management is preferable but not essential.
You must be willing to upskill, learn and work with new and unfamiliar issues and information.
You must be able to explain technical concepts in a concise and straightforward manner to non-tax professionals and clients.
You must have excellent interpersonal, IT, communication, data management and project management skills.
You must be able to work both independently and collaborate as part of a cross-functional team spread across offices.
You must have a flexible, energetic and proactive personality with the ability to multi-task.
