Quantitative Research and Information Management Specialist
Overall Purpose of the Role
The overall purpose of the role is to serve as the regional lead for the Mixed Migration Centre MMC Latin America and the Caribbean (MMC LAC) team on the management and analysis of quantitative data collected by 4Mi enumerators in countries of operations, as well as other data collection initiatives led by MMC LAC (4Mi Cities, social media listening).
Under the supervision of the MMC Manager and in close collaboration with the IM Team Leader and the MMC Research Coordinator, the successful candidate will be responsible for data cleaning, management, and analysis according to the SOPs. He/She will contribute to quantitative research design, lead quantitative data management, analysis and visualization, develop survey tools and methodologies, and draft research products based on quantitative data along with the research team. He/She will review and validate all quantitative research outputs. Additionally, the post holder will provide support on data collection and management training, support with enumerator network supervision, and assist the team with administrative tasks, among other responsibilities.
The successful candidate will also be responsible for developing the methodologies, tools, and processes to implement data collection on social media (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, among others).
Responsibilities:
* Support the design and implementation of quantitative research on mixed migration in the region in alignment with the MMC research agenda;
* Propose analytical themes and research questions based on emerging data trends;
* Lead the drafting, reviewing and finalizing of quantitative research outputs, including 4Mi snapshots and infographics;
* Provide support and inputs to quantitative aspects of other research outputs, such as papers and in-depth studies;
* Develop and maintain dashboards for presenting data for internal and external use at the regional level;
* Stay informed on the latest mixed migration research and trends in Latin America and the Caribbean by monitoring media and other relevant sources;
* Lead the development of quantitative research methodologies and tools, including sampling methodologies and survey design;
* Ensure the maintenance of the electronic data collection solution;
* Support the training of 4Mi enumerators on the questionnaire and the data collection software;
* Provide ongoing technical support to the 4Mi team to ensure consistent data quality;
* Lead the development of methodologies and tools for social media listening.
Quantitative Data Analysis:
* Lead the quantitative analysis of 4Mi data using relevant software applications such as Excel, STATA, R and/or Python;
* Transform complex datasets into actionable insights by conducting descriptive analysis and identifying trends;
* Conduct predictive modelling and apply machine learning algorithms to detect trends.
Information Management and Data Processing:
* Lead on the management of 4Mi data ensuring maintenance of the data collection platform;
* Develop tools for tracking data quality and survey targets;
* Ensure regular availability of clean datasets for the region and global use;
* Lead IM and data processing in compliance with internal procedures.
Research Dissemination and Engagement:
* Design and produce compelling data visualizations tailored to diverse audiences;
* Support the dissemination of research products through presentations and events.
Experience and Technical Competencies:
* At least five years of experience working in quantitative research;
* Demonstrated experience in data management, cleaning, validation, and storage;
* Experience with electronic data collection procedures and solutions;
* Experience in training and supervising data collection teams;
* Experience in conducting quantitative analysis and drafting reports;
* Experience in producing quantitative research outputs and data visualization applications.
Education:
* Advanced Degree in statistics, economics, data analysis, or relevant computer science degree.
Languages:
* Full professional proficiency in English and Spanish;
* Additional regional language an asset (Portuguese, Creole).
We Offer:
Contract length: A 6 month fixed-term contract that is renewable for 6 months could transition to an indefinite-term contract, depending on funding and performance.
