SGS Ireland was awarded the contract to operate the Safe Electric and RGI schemes on behalf of the Commission for Regulation of Utilities. SGS established Safe Energy Ireland to operate both the Safe Electric and RGI schemes. Safe Energy Ireland ensures that all Registered Gas Installers are operating in accordance with the relevant standards to ensure that all installations in the Republic of Ireland are carried out by competent installers.
We now have an exciting opportunity for a Gas Safety Technical Manager to become part of our progressive and dynamic organisation at Safe Energy Ireland. The Gas Safety Technical Manager will lead a team of gas inspectors and be responsible for managing day-to-day operations, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and providing technical guidance to the team.
Job Description
* Ensure all inspections are conducted according to safety and industry regulations and standards.
* Provide technical expertise and guidance in identifying and resolving gas inspection issues.
* Develop and implement inspection procedures and protocols.
* Maintain knowledge of Regulations and stay updated with latest industry trends.
* Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the team.
* Establish and maintain professional and cordial relationship with CRU gas safety team.
* Facilitate CRU audits of RGI Inspectors.
* Oversee the planning and implementation of RGI audit & inspection programs in conformance with KPI requirements.
* Prepare and issue technical bulletins, newsletters, and other safety publications and conduct RGI workshops if required.
* Investigate incidents, issue reports thereon, and issue recommendations where appropriate.
* Attend meetings with CRU and contribute to the development of the criteria for regulation of gas installers with respect to safety.
* Serve on NSAI Technical Standards Committees responsible for drafting national standards for gas installations.
* Deliver presentations to various bodies and local authorities on the regulated installer scheme and provide technical guidance on domestic and non-domestic gas installations.
* Liaise with all other relevant bodies or groups, as required, to promote public awareness on gas safety.
* At all times, adopt a safe behavior by exercising due regard for the health and safety of yourself, colleagues, and clients, in line with the Company’s policies and procedures.
* Ensure full compliance with the Company’s Code of Integrity & Professional Conduct, and always adopt behavior in accordance with SGS Equality & Diversity policy.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
* Hold Domestic Gas Safety (DGS) award.
* Have at least three years experience in gas work.
* Be fully conversant with IS813, IS EN 1949, and all other relevant technical standards.
* Hold a City & Guilds (7317 A1/A2) Certificate in assessing candidates.
* Several years of experience in gas inspection, with a minimum of 2 years in a managerial role.
