Job Description: This critical role involves ensuring the efficient and reliable operation of boilers and associated mechanical systems. The successful candidate will have a strong background in boiler maintenance, a keen attention to detail, and a proactive approach to maintaining a safe and optimal working environment.
1. Boiler Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections, maintenance, and repairs on various types of boilers to ensure their safe and efficient operation.
2. Mechanical Systems Maintenance: Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on various mechanical systems such as pumps, motors, and HVAC equipment to guarantee smooth functionality.
3. Troubleshooting and Diagnostics: Identify, troubleshoot, and rectify issues related to boiler and mechanical system malfunctions, ensuring minimal downtime and operational disruptions.
4. Adherence to Safety Standards: Strictly adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while conducting maintenance activities, prioritizing the safety of oneself and others.
5. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive records of maintenance activities, including inspections, repairs, replacements, and equipment performance. Generate reports highlighting maintenance work completed and recommendations for enhancements.
6. Collaboration and Coordination: Work collaboratively with team members and external contractors to optimise maintenance schedules, resource allocation, and task completion.
Skills and Requirements:
1. Proven track record as a Mechanical Maintenance Technician with a minimum of 5 years' experience post-apprenticeship, demonstrating expertise in boiler maintenance within industrial or commercial environments.
2. RGI registered.
3. In-depth understanding of diverse boiler systems, their components, and mechanical equipment, coupled with a strong background in maintaining various mechanical systems.
4. Competency in executing maintenance tasks following safety guidelines and manufacturer specifications, encompassing troubleshooting, repair, and component replacement.
5. Proficiency in interpreting technical manuals, drawings, and schematics relevant to boilers and other mechanical systems.
6. Comprehensive knowledge of safety protocols and regulations related to boiler maintenance and broader mechanical maintenance practices.
7. Vocational training, certifications, or coursework specialising in boiler maintenance or broader mechanical systems.
8. Experience working with different types of boilers (e.g., steam boilers, hot water boilers) and familiarity with diverse boiler technologies.
9. Previous involvement in the commercial and industrial sectors with a focus on boiler maintenance and additional mechanical systems.
10. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with the ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
11. Valid/Full clean driver's licence.
